Who would you keep for next season?

So it's coming upto(well few months!) the point where we can sign new players and hopefully offload some crap to other teams :D

So who would you like to stay for the upcoming season? and who is simply just on the bandwagon and needs to go...

here's the entire list of our current squad (apologies if i have missed one)

2 DF John Brayford

3 DF Gareth Roberts

4 MF Paul Green

5 DF Shaun Barker (vice-captain)

6 DF Dean Leacock

7 FW Steve Davies

8 MF Robbie Savage ------> retireing

9 FW Theo Robinson (on loan from Millwall)

10 FW Jamie Ward (on loan from Sheffield United)

11 MF Stephen Pearson

12 FW Chris Porter

13 GK Saul Deeney

14 DF Russell Anderson

16 MF James Bailey

17 DF Jake Buxton

18 MF Ben Pringle

19 FW Tomasz Cywka

20 DF Miles Addison

21 DF Daniel Ayala (on loan from Liverpool)

23 FW Conor Doyle

24 MF Arnaud Mendy

25 DF Mark O'Brien

26 FW Callum Ball

27 FW Alberto Bueno (on loan from Real Valladolid)

28 MF Ben Davies

29 MF Jeff Hendrick

30 GK Ross Atkins

31 GK James Severn

33 GK Matt Duke (on loan from Hull City)

36 FW Michael Boulding

GK Stephen Bywater (at Cardiff City until the end of the season)

MF Dave Martin (at Notts County until 24 April 2011)

FW Luke Varney (at Blackpool until the end of the season)

In my opinion only brayford, barker, green(only if he plays in cm...), ward, bailey, cywka, addison, ayala, doyle, B.Davies, Martin and maybe pearson if he stays in form, are any where near the quality we need if we are going to be challenging top 6 for next season

I would also like to point out using my selections...the average age is only about 23....get some good expierenced players in there and i feel they could all become big players

Hopefully Varney will be snatched up by blackpool(i couldn't care for what amount...), Bywater simply needs to go he's lost all confidence here and i think it's a case of being here for too long in a bad side. Savage is retireing which is good but we will need a younger but still expierenced midfielder to take his place, don't forget he should be on quite a high wage ;). Gareth Roberts won't improve simple as....he's getting older and i feel can only go down, Steve Davies we got him from tranmere and he was only average, take him out the game for a long time and he's just not that good. Chris Porter is another one plagued by injuiry if only he could get back to his old ways i would want him. Jake Buxton plays well but has been injuired for a while and isn't getting any younger...though good backup for barker etc. Ben Pringle is by far one of the players i most dispise...barely does anything except one pass and gets praise from clough...definate sell him has no skill what so ever and no eye for goal.

Bueno i would like to stay, but lets face it, he wont

Alot in that squad list are untested and from the academy and yet to make a first team appearence so i won't comment on them, also a few have season long injuirys.

(e.g. Callum ball - one for the future?)

What does everyone else think then?

Ps.anyone know what kind of wages each player is on? would be brilliant to know

Even thinner when you look at the squad that is actually contracted for next season.

2 DF John Brayford

3 DF Gareth Roberts

4 MF Paul Green

5 DF Shaun Barker (vice-captain)

6 DF Dean Leacock

7 FW Steve Davies

11 MF Stephen Pearson

14 DF Russell Anderson

16 MF James Bailey

18 MF Ben Pringle

19 FW Tomasz Cywka

20 DF Miles Addison

23 FW Conor Doyle

24 MF Arnaud Mendy

25 DF Mark O'Brien

26 FW Callum Ball

28 MF Ben Davies

29 MF Jeff Hendrick

30 GK Ross Atkins

31 GK James Severn

Lee Croft

GK Stephen Bywater (at Cardiff City until the end of the season)

MF Dave Martin (at Notts County until 24 April 2011)

FW Luke Varney (at Blackpool until the end of the season)

Take out Bywater, Leacock and Varney and it makes you wonder how a major revamp could NOT be neccessary.

In answer to the OP - Brayford, Green, Barker, Bailey, Cwyka, Ball, Addison and Doyle. I still actually think (hope) Ben Davies will come good so I'd persevere there too. Apart from that I'd ship out the lot...well if I had a spare £10m to pay off contracts and buy fifteen new players that is.

what about S.Davies and if Barker is vice captain, who is captain?

I wouldn't have given him another contract (S. Davies), doesn't play enough games and the ones he does play he's very inconsistent. We need to get away from these players who are always injured. Which is why I'm not bothered about Leacock going.

I copied and pasted the bit with Barker being Vice Captain, out of the 6 players we'd have left for next season I'd make him captain and Addison vice-captain.

I'd like us to bring in a proper captain - one who actually talks to the other players, encourages them, ******** them and gets them organised - it's been a long time (too long) since we've had a real captain....

Oh, for a Dave Mackay, Igor or Oooh Mark!

or Robbie VDL - but certainly not a floppy haired pillock that thinks captaincy involves running round like a headless chicken and having a hissy fit at the ref every few minutes.....

I'm not totally against Barker as captain, I'd just like him to focus on his day job and bring in a real leader.....

That's who I'd keep, need a couple of the youth prospects in case they turn out decent.

I think Barker is ALMOST the perfect captain.

He's inspirational. He'll put his body on the line. He'll play through injuries and he will NEVER hide. He never backs down from a challenge either. No matter whether the risk of getting a kick in the face is there. And there are also those moments like v Swansea, where someone with pace (Sinclair) has flown past him and Barker will absoloutely bust a gut to keep up. He'll grab hold of a shirt and get an extra yard of pace from wherever he can. He's a brilliant back to the wall defender and he's a character that never gives up.

What he doesn't do is demand the same from his team mates. He doesn't grab them by the scruff of the neck and give them a kick up the arse. He doesn't even put an arm around a player very often and whisper a quiet word of encouragment. He isn't out there making sure everyone is playing with the fiery passion he is. He just does what he does and really just keeps his head down for the majority of the game.

Why? Why doesn't he demand the same "body on the line" performance from the rest of the team? How can a player who's a machine at times be such a timid bloke??

Brayford, although young still, looks to developing into the same player. He's plays like a leader. But he doesn't talk like one. Although there's plenty of time for him.
