trentsideram
i know this seems trivial in comparison to the board/management/players, but a lot of fans can't go to (m)any games due to money/where they live/work/family etc and therefore follow the club on ramsplayer. i am in uni at manchester and need to work most weekends so can't afford to come down very often and watch, nor can i listen on the radio from up here. some improvements: -full match on ramsplayer sooner (the day after would be good!) -more camera angles (for example the camera angle against palace doesnt really show if it was a penalty or not!) -better quality (looks bad on full screen) -radio doesnt stop and start anyone else got any other ideas? davenportram
I think they are looking at streaming full games next season - there was bit in the article about the Swansea game being on Player saying this or they were looking at it for the future. I think this means live The camera angle is dictated by the in stadium coverage - you get the same view in player as you do in the concourse. Clubs would need to run more than one camera. The view at Palace was dictated by where they have their camera. The quality would be determined by the eqipment streaming the video I think but I agree it needs to be better. My radio is always uninterrupted Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5996-ramsplayer-improvements-for-next-season/#findComment-147926 Share on other sites
RebelScum
It needs to be free of charge - on principle! And don't say 'I dont mind paying a bit for quality, or its not that much relativly speaking' thats not the point! In an ideal world it would be, but in modern football where money seems to be the be all and end all it never will be. And don't say 'I dont mind paying a bit for quality, or its not that much relativly speaking' thats not the point! Do you have any idea how much it would cost the club to run a stream for every game for a whole season with camera angles etc and a decent stream? You need to employ a whole IT department, Cameramen, Directors etc. I can't think of any walk of life where a service like Ramsplayer would be provided free of charge with demand as low as Ramsplayer receives. I know the club seems desperate for our money sometimes, but I can't see how anyone can really complain at the club for charging people for Ramsplayer. On top of that, if it was free, how many fans would stop bothering going to games? David
If we had the same quality that we've had for the Swansea and Palace games but live I would pay an extra few quid a month with no changes, no problemo.......... *can you hear that ching ching in my pocket Mr Glick? come and get it, you know you want it, it's calling you* Extra camera's round the pitch would great but it's also unrealistic as it require more cameramen and a producer which would come at a huge cost which would be passed on to us. Even if they don't bring in live streams I'll be happy to continue paying what I'am if we get the full game on couple of days later. Although I think they should have a free option just for the commentary, shouldn't have to pay to listen to local radio if you live outside the area. Redshaw_Ram
If they did cover matches live I think they should do it as a PPV format. What would be a reasonable price to charge? trentsideram
leeds streamed one of their games on their website before (http://www.thescratchingshed.com/2010/08/ppv-leeds-v-millwall-for-spanish-german-south-african-whites/), but only to germany, spain and south africa - so i guess it isn't allowed in england. if you have a special sat dish and sat receiver i'm told you can watch the feed that is sent from the ground to sky sports news for free. old empire
They wouldn't be allowed to stream Saturday 3pm kick offs live due to broadcasting regulations. And even if they were able too, it would be counter productive as attendances will fall when people realise they can watch the game from home for a fraction of the cost of turning up to the stadium. WilkoRam
They wouldn't be able to stream live games as mentioned above. The quality of the video needs improving and the general quality of the production needs improving (interviews etc look cheap). If it was more like and online MUTV (not that I'm a subscriber to that but from what I can gather) then I'd consider subscribing. Exclusive interviews, old classics, features on past greats, maybe even a pundit and fan post match analysis like Sunday Suppliment on Sky (although doubt that would happen as you'd have people calling for GSE and or Nigel to go so the club won't like that), all of a high quality. They basically need to offer you something worthwhile, at the moment I don't think they do. Audio commentary and the video interviews that I can read anyway - doesn't seem worthwhile. And even if they were able too, it would be counter productive as attendances will fall when people realise they can watch the game from home for a fraction of the cost of turning up to the stadium. The EU courts backed the landlady that had been done for showing 3pm kick offs using foreign satellite subscriptions on freedom of trade. This could effectively wipe out the 3pm blackout on broadcasting matches and open a potential for streaming games at 3pm.
