sage
Why have we conceded more goals than any other team in the last ten minutes, plus injury time. Is it..... a) We defend too deep in the last ten minutes b) We fail to keep possession in the last ten minutes c) We make bad individual decisions in the lst ten minutes d) We aren't physically fit enough e) We aren't menally strong enough f) A bit of all those 5 and it's now a psychological barrier with players/fans or g) something else Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5985-late-goals/ Share on other sites
dcfcdavecov
All i know is: If football matches were 80 mins long we would be 9th.(that was before dropping points at Palace) FACTUMUNDO!..... Clough God/Clough gone.....fine lines. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5985-late-goals/#findComment-147411 Share on other sites
Donny Ram
All good observations, the only additional comment I would make is that we pile pressure on ourselves by pulling everyone back at opposition corners. Basic tactics really, if you leave 2 up on the halfway line the opposition have to mark them. I can't understand why we insist on not leaving players up the pitch to give us an outlet and catch them on the break. Ask yourself this, how many times have we extended our lead by catching a team on the break in the last few minutes? To me this says it all:frown: Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5985-late-goals/#findComment-147412 Share on other sites
sage
One thing i would add is we have missed golden chances in the last few minutes at least 4 of these games including the last 2 games. Robinson should have made it 3 and comfortable late on against Swansea. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5985-late-goals/#findComment-147414 Share on other sites

davenportram
The DET says we have lost 12 points to late goals, which would put us 10th on 56 points. But two of those games were losses against Burnley and Reading so we would be up to 8th had we held on to draw those games, with both of them below us on 55points. davenportram
I might be mistaken but the Robinson chance was one of the rare situations where we left a player up the pitch? True, but before he arrived dud we really have pace up fro t to leave doneone up the pitch and latch onto the out ball abd beat a defender for pace. Most of our breaks have relied on the fullbacks and midfield rushing forward, hard to do when the opposition are pressing for an equaliser. Didn't both of Burnley's goals come in the last 10 mins, so would be classed as 3 extra points? davenportram
Didn't both of Burnley's goals come in the last 10 mins, so would be classed as 3 extra points? We would still be on 56 points, and they would be on 54 below us. Had we defended better this season we would be sitting 4 points from the play-offs. This season late goals and December have ruined the season. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5985-late-goals/#findComment-147420 Share on other sites

EastKentRam
Cos despite it happening countless times the genius that is Nigel Clough insists on getting everyone back, playing deeper and deeper even when there's about 20 minutes + left. It's the most frustrating thing to watch cos every f*cker, except Nigel, knows what is going to happen yet he still hasnt realised. WorksopRam
At least Nigel has highlighted that. He knows it's one of our biggest problems, so if he can reduce it to around 4 points next season then we may be heading somewhere!
