Dean Moxey - Good Business or Raw Deal

Quote from DET :-

"It's obviously a big one for me this weekend, playing against my old team," said Moxey, who made 58 appearances for Derby, scoring two goals.

"It will be good to see my mates when they come down but, hopefully, we can take three points off them."

Moxey, who Clough signed from Exeter City in the summer of 2009, has admitted the switch to South London came as a surprise.

But he has settled in well, making eight starts for the Eagles so far.

"I don't think I've really got to prove a point," said the 25-year-old defender.

"I think he (Clough) knows what I'm all about but he obviously didn't want me in the end.

"So I left and came to a club that actually wanted me. I'm happy now and I'm loving my football."

So I ask, Good deal for the club in the end or did the lad get a raw deal here, Thoughts ???

If he puts in the performance of his life tomorrow, it may well seem like a bad decision!

Let's be honest - his performances were not on the same level as Brayford at RB. Maybe Clough just expects the same standard...

Was disappointed he was sold, but agree with your sentiment. Not on the same level as Brayford.

Bad business imo, left us with one left back and also think he provided cover for other positions, dont mind Nige not rating him but maybe should of got rid in summer.

Somebody bought the contract issue up. We owed another £75k if he made 1 more appearance, so must have made more sense to make a profit rather than pay more.

£75k might not be much in footballing terms, but i guess he wasn't deemed worth it and for that reason sold on. Roberts might not be the best, but he's around the same ability as Moxey.

Was that contract issue confirmed though mate as the thread i read that in his information came from Champ Man???

How much did we sign him for again and how much did we sell him for??? Just I dont think that 75k (if true( would of made a difference???

It doesnt work like that.

We didnt get rid, like a player out of contract in a summer.

A bid came in, which Nigel thought was decent money and Nigel accepted.

If we had rejected it, Palace would have bought someone else, and wouldnt come back for him in the summer.

I think it was bad business because ot left us a bit short at left back, could we of not of loaned him out for the rest of the season with them making it perm in summer with a 24 hour call back???

It was pretty ironic. Considering GSE way of doing things. Not confirmed as far as i know, but it's not unbelievable.

Preferred Moxey as an attacking midfielder myself, wasn't that good at left wing back.

Maybe he wil be the next Gareth Bale mate :)

You didnt tell me how much we signed him for and sold him for??? Your as lazy as me.....

FACT! Moxey started off well in his first season, but faded and was pulled from the side for a period.

FACT! He was at fault for a few goals this season, and even though was played out of position at times, never sparkled. Clough called him out a few times in post match RD interviews.

FACT! we sold him for slightly more than we paid for him.

FACT! the word FACT will annoy a few members, so I sit back and wait for a rocky ride. Bring it on!:D
