Hove_Ram
Apologies if this is already posted elsewhere (I had a look around) but BBC have a Glick interview where he discusses aiming for the top 6 next season: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/9417036.stm Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5853-glick-bbc-inside-sport-interview/ Share on other sites

Obi1Kenobi0
Thanks for the link. Usual Glick rhetoric. He would make a useful politician. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5853-glick-bbc-inside-sport-interview/#findComment-143806 Share on other sites
WilkoRam
Camera man needs to figure out how close he's going to zoom in and position himself prior to the interview not during it.... ...bit of a nothing interview really, no taxing questions or anything and just the same mantra by Glick to every question. Expect nothing more from him to be fair but I do expect presenters to ask better questions. Ambitious
I think this is a good sign, it sounds quite genuine and they're looking towards a top 6 finish next season, they haven't said this previously and we've been fed the usual 'long term goal' ********, it's about time we heard someone from the club come out and give an expectation, this is what I like to hear. I really genuinely like Glick, he is a scapegoat for not spending when it's not his job (this is done by the usual moronic Derby following) we don't know what he is being told, but I do know without him at the club we would be in a much worse position, he isn't a football guy and he won't try and put players in nigels head to who he wants, but the sponsorship and additional money he has brought in has really helped this club. I also like how patient and level headed he is, good man. But it wouldn't really matter if Glick came out and said we are targeting 1st or 6th or whatever as the trajectory of the club is down not up. We have reduced running costs at the expense of the squad in terms of wages and rec'd transfer fees. It may be worth you having a read of the Ramstrust interview with Glick. http://www.ramstrust.org.uk/news/1-latest-news/350-report-ramstrust-meeting-with-dcfc It is safe to say we will be pursuing a frugal plan regarding developing the squad so aside from the rhetoric of wanting top 6 there is nothing to suggest we will be in a position to do this. It seems to me you are believing what you want to hear. I for one would love us to go out and spend 5 million over the summer but it won't happen. Glick fronts the investors and his views seem inline with their plans of now spending frugally and within our means to achieve a long term aim of getting into the Prem. It's not as if Glick is suggesting the investors need to cough up more money is it? Therefore I'm not sure how fans are making him a scapegoat? Also in terms of the additional money you suggest they have brought into the club, I presume you are happy that the level of managment fees they take out is VFM? I don't see how we have really benefited financially from GSE since the LOG. Cold callers chancing upon your front door must think they have died and gone to heaven. Cold callers chancing upon your front door must think they have died and gone to heaven. buying into this season ticket pitch, I think you'll find out I'm not. I didn't renew last season and unless there is investment then I won't be doing this season. I was just pointing out the amount of idiots who actually believe it's Glicks fault for the lack of investment, he is no more at fault than Nigel Clough for the lack of investment as they're both employed by the board to do a job. I was also pointing out this is the first time since the Jewell days that they have actually come out and made a top 6 expectation. I am still in the wait and see camp, however when it comes to Clough and Glick I support both of them strongly, it's the investors that aren't pulling their weight. WoollyJumper
Nice if it was true, but I'm sure we've heard something similar for the last couple of seasons, and have never really been close to challenging anything like top 6 and finishing there. WilkoRam
Guess they had to change stance as 'progress season on season' doesn't really hold weight any more. Steady on our woes are not just down to GSE. Please don't be naive in thinking that Glick is really a puppet and extensive dialogue does not take place with the investers. Apparently Clough was under no financial pressure to sell Hulse and Moxey. Getting rid of players without replacing them is just as bad as a lack of investment. Glick is part of the decision making process when it comes to investing in the playing squad and budget. I frankly cannot believe you think they are mutually exclusive.
