Green light for Anderson

Derby County defender Russell Anderson has been given the all clear to resume full training next week.

The 32-year-old centre-back underwent a series of tests earlier this week on the muscle strength in the hamstring he injured back in October.

Those tests came back positive, and the former Aberdeen skipper has been given the green light to join in full training with the rest of the Derby squad from next Monday.

Anderson picked up a groin strain on the opening day of the season against Leeds United and after a brief return in October, he has been sidelined ever since with a hamstring problem.

Head Physiotherapist Neil Sullivan said: "Russell has had an unbelievably tough season and his time out has been a big mental test for him.

"He has worked incredibly hard to get back fit and hopefully he will get a slice of luck now, because he deserves it."

The Rams have three reserve games coming up in the next few weeks, and Anderson is expected to feature in those to build up his match fitness.

His return comes hot on the heels of Jake Buxton's return to action last week from a series of groin, stomach and back problems which had kept him out all season.

Frustrating defender. Looks solid enough after a few games. But a sicknote.

Both Buxton and Anderson need to prove themselves all over again. It's March and they've played what?, once between them??

Anderson has proved what we already knew - he's a sicknote.

Clough gambled because he has no funds, nothing really unexpected here.
