davenportram
Tonight, seeing as we were getting battered, the kids were cold and my son had tummy ache we decided to leave early - just before their 3rd goal. We got back about 15 minutes ago. We were nicely on course to be home for about half ten then a fecking badger decides to commit suicide under my front wheels. The dumb ******* even ran under my fron wheels after I had slowed down and swerved to avoid the fecker. Thought nothing of it at first, then 100 yards down the road a god awful thump and scraping noise started from the front end. Stopped the car had a look and there were bits of car hanging off and scraping on the road. No torch to inspect the damage properly I didnt wnat to drive on so I thought I know call the AA. Stupid me didnt realise that hitting a badger isnt covered. They offered me local recovery, but we were too far from home for it to be called "local" so they couldnt help me Rang my insurance emergency helpline - and the smarmy little fecker on the phone offered me nothing more than "we can put your car in storage and drop you off at a train station". Bearing in mind we were just North of Leek in the middle of nowhere trying to get to Stockport, I quite rightly (IMO) told the guy he was "******* rediciulous" - after that he kind of tried to help. After getting no joy from him locating where we were I said call me back in ten minutes and I will use my iphone to find where we were (amazingly I had fantastic signal despite being in the middle of nowherre). To cut a long story short - I decide to shift the car to the next few houses down the road and found a pub still open. Got in there carpark and removed the lose stuff (it was just some p-alstic thing that goes under the radiator and is normally attatched to the bumper, and managed to get home.) Many thanks to the landlord who helped out and took the wife and kids into the warm while we sorted the car. The point is this, we have the pains we go through to support our club, 7 hours wasted tonight. ***** performance, ***** drive home, the players sitll get paid but that's 7 hours I will never get back. I have a car that is fecked (the air con system appears to be damaged and the bumper is smashed to hell). Yet the players/manager/board still get paid, the club still get our money. Not any more from me. No way we will be renewing our season tickets . Cant justify the money on that *****- not when there will be no problems getting tickets match by match. I know that there is a big increase for not renewing - but lets face it we can pick and choose games next season. In two minds about going on Saturday now - is it worth the time and money to get on a train? I am not sure at all. There is more to life than Derby County. StaffsRam
Just north of Leek would probably put you in my general vicinity. No good with cars, but could have offered you cups of tea and biscuits at least!
mcsilks
. There is more to life than Derby County. He says after taking the trouble to post all of this on a DCFC forum. Pretty ironic I think. Sorry to hear about your troubles though. RIP badger:D
MrsRam
He's just getting it off his chest - and rightly so. Dav and ladyram travel miles to watch Derby, home and away. I would be fecked off if this had happened on my way home and I'm no where near as far away. I hope you can sort your car out without too much hassle and expense Dav and the kids don't fall asleep at their desks today :frown:

ladyram
Morning campers First off, thanks guys - it was all a bit of a mare and capped off a miserable evening (and Uttox - I was bricking it when I had to trudge off up the road to try and find some signposts for the guy who had trouble locating us. Didn't dare stray from the road...) Dav was well pissed off before he even hit the stoopid arse badger and Mrs - you're spot on, he had to get it off his chest. Anyways - there we were, stuck on an unlit, national speed limit road with just a boggy grass verge and hazard lights for company - we had to get out of the car as it was filling with stinking smoke, and our youngest was scared and crying. Coppers rolled past - did they stop? Did they eckers like. I thought they would have seeing as though they're quick to point out a dodgy brake light or a balding tyre. He'd probably just finished his shift. The important thing is, we did manage to get home, probably long after the players went to bed. Ah well, ni'mind. Dav was hacked off, so was I. Mrs pointed out that me and Dav travel to watch the team and she's absolutely right. It's our choice to spend a lot of money to watch, of course it is. All we'd like in return is more positive performances on the pitch and a team willing to put in as much effort as us fans do in order to justify what we do week in week out. Is that too much to ask? Derby have an extremely loyal following - I know Dav said he's had it with going to matches now but if I know Dav as well as I think I do, the lull of supporting something he holds very dear may well prove to be something he can't walk away from. At this point in time however, this is being put to the test, as his ever present patience and optimistic outlook regarding the board, management and team has almost (but not quite) gone. Yesterday morning we were planning for the Reading away match, after last night's performance it's a bit of a different story. :frown:

What a nightmare night Dav, glad you're all safely home, and your right not to renew, cherry pick your games, get some freebies, I reckon a lot more people should do it and put some pressure on the board to invest or bail out... inglorious01
I think I can top that. Driving back from our play off win at Wembley, I ran into the back of someone on the M1 coming back to Derby. Surprisingly, no major damage was done to his car. Being only third party fire & theft and being generally not well off financially, I could only afford minimal repairs to my car, and to this day, it still shows a few scars even now. I knew then that it was a bad omen though. Worst season ever and my mum got diagnosed with terminal cancer. Life has been pretty **** ever since then! It's been a real struggle for me to pay for a season ticket in the last few years. I used to pay the full amount but I've had to spread the cost by direct debit this season. I'm not bothering next season, I've had enough (
ladyram
Aw, that's sad news inglorious :frown: Kind of thinking that's what Dav meant when he said there's more to life than Derby County - real life intrudes and gets in the way doesn't it? MrsRam
I said to MrRam on the way home - if we renew our season tickets - at a cost of around a grand  we are spending approximately 5% of our annual income. (forget petrol, food, drinks etc). Wouldn't it be nice if the board stumped up 5% of their annual income to help out - just a thought
