DCFC_4_LIFE
Towards the end of the hull game the announcer announced that jamie ward was voted man of the match by us! How many clueless derby fans have we got!!?? He ran around alot thats it, the quality was shocking!! Can no one remember the chance where he could of put s davies through on goal with a simple pass but put it out to savage on his right!? Pretty much every time he touched the ball he lost possession. Barker or ayala were my man of the match anyone else at the game agree? Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5705-ward-man-of-the-match/ Share on other sites
SavageRam
good 1st half, but yet another game and another perfetic show from our strike force, for me i think ben davies deserved it, was everywhere, cant question his commitment, just his skill. He's poor set peice taker. Dont they practise this on the training ground? n experiment with other players to see who can do what??? surley someone can hit the target with a free kick?:confused: Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5705-ward-man-of-the-match/#findComment-139260 Share on other sites

I think he left his "dead ball specialist" skills in league 1. Not man of the match. i thought Ayala looked steady and confident last night IMO. Hartley Hare
If I had to pick anyone I too would have picked Ben Davies. He hasn't got his set piece delivery right yet and needs to sort that quickly. But his work rate and support of the defence was excellent. I think Ward maybe benefited from the number on the back of his shirt; some fans are so used to blindly texting "10" to the MOM number and have forgotten that Commons has gone.... We had two free kicks late on in the game in quick succession, the first was a superb delivery, the second was terrible....training ground anyone..! desmond_tutu
This raises a good point. Who really does that text in MOTM thing? I don't bother since i'm too busy watching the game. Plus they annouce the MOTM at about 85mins so what happens if its the last mintute of the game 0-0, pretty naff game and a derby player scores. The systems abit useless. Ok the keeper didnt help, but I can't blame the game on a young 19 year old, who sits on the bench in reserve games and is 4th choice keeper. Hucknall Ram
Did you text in who you thought was MOTM? You can say this system of texting the the MOTM gives a true reflection on who texts in, but not all the fans in the stadium. IMO I though Ben Davies was very poor last night. Ok the keeper didnt help, but I can't blame the game on a young 19 year old, who sits on the bench in reserve games and is 4th choice keeper. The keeper missed a corner and left the ball a yard out in the middle of the goal. Whether he is 19, 29 or 39, it was his fault. Not going to slag the lad off, but it was his fault. The problem when losing 1-0 at home, isn't the 1, it's the 0. We missed 6 or 7 half chances and didn't create a clear one. Ward could have played people in twice and didn't do. he also missed most of our chances. However, at last he was there and his movement and pace has revitalised the whole team. Can't argue with that. I also thought that Robinson had an impact when he came on too. Just looked a little rusty at times. But the pace he brought into the attack seemed to give us a bit of impetus. But the pace he brought into the attack seemed to give us a bit of impetus. You have to remember Ward has not played for 12 months at Sheffield Utd bit like Billy Sharp didn't. He did not bang them in straight away but when got started he was the business for Donny. However that pass you talking about he got a freekick for a foul, also there was that dummy to himself where he nearly broke through and was not knocked off the ball and was quite happy to put the foot in if needed. He is rusty and if I remember rightly Kuqi at hull and Barnsley was rusty then he got into the game. Give him a chance because he has pace and him and Robinson when they get to know each other will do damage. Move the two davies to the wing and green when fit with addison in middle then you have the start of a nice shape to the midfield. We signed ben davies for his set pieces and havent seen a decent one yet but shouldnt any pro footballer be able to put a free kick/corner in the right spot? i dont understand it!! By right youd have ward the smallest guy on the pitch taking set pieces???????? Donny Ram
Donny would have got Sharp for half that if he had gone to the Keepmoat and done nowt. He only cost a million because he started banging then in for fun, that's just market value reflective of current performance. Donny Ram
Bit harsh, but Sav's free kicks late on were of mixed quality, one was excellent (the first) and one was poor. David Jones anyone.... roosram
I nearly fell off my seat when they said Ward was voted MOM. Totally anonymous in the 2nd half. I agree with most posters who think Ben Davies is not delivering the goods atm, although some corners in 1st half were vg. I came down from Hull with 3 Hull fans and they all rated Savage's performance, as I did. But I would have voted for Tommy Cwyka. Game was not helped by referee, nor by Hull's lack of ambition, nor by a lack of quality on both sides. Unlucky not to have got a 0 - 0.
