Ramaldo
Don't know if this has been said before but.. The past two games at Pride Park have shown that what is needed to win games is players such as Jimmy Bullard and Yakubu, these two players earn a lot of money, and it shows through in their performances, the board need to see that if we are to improve then they need to splash the cash on the wages of these calibre of players. VulcanRam
Leicester was a great example of new owners ready to invest and show ambition to get their club into the Premiership, and above all the match was proof that you get what you pay for. Boycie
The players highlighted in the first post had proved themselves already in the prem. Miller and Bamby on Ice hadn't. rynny
Also John Utaka was on £80,000 a week, does the same apply? I can see where you are coming from but it isn't always the case. Ramaldo
Commons and Hulse were high earners, they won games for us on their own at times. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5602-class-shines-through/#findComment-135951 Share on other sites
rynny
see above post. I was highlighting that just because they were on high wages and/or cost a bit doesn't automatically get you class players. There are players that will be playing in the prem that could struggle in the championship but are established in the prem, somone like John O'Shea. Ambitious
Don't know if this has been said before but.. I thought apart from his goal yakubu was fairly toss, dint move much or look too interested really! I thought king and wellens and their left mid(might of been dyer or vassell) were their best players. 40k a week on a striker is desperate at this level, I dont want us to pay for the luxary of a name but a few more brayfords..etc wouldnt go a miss! StaffsRam
I thought apart from his goal yakubu was fairly toss Suppose that's the difference though isn't it. A decent striker can perhaps have a low-key game, but then chips in with a goal. If I had a couple of strikers who did nothing else but chip in with a goal apiece per game, I'd be quite happy with them. Agree in general though, I'd rather we spent any money more wisely than throwing £40k a week at one player.
