Ambitious Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Ive been on the blower to a friend that works at Derby but by no means is in a position to verify this rumour and it goes into some depth of which im not going to spell out and im going to try and keep it so found to be true there is nothing that can get this person into trouble but I dont see how posting this 'rumour' on here could cause any issues, so here goes.. Long story short, Glick has been said to have been 'left stranded' at Derby and andy appleby (the chairman) along with the investors havent had much if any contact for a few months now, he has said this before but like I said previously isnt really in a position to say for definite! He also told me today that despite the earlier groans of wanting to take over as Derby chairman again, Glick has apparently on behalf of GSE given him the chance to buy the club back (no fee was mentioned but he said it wouldnt leave them short if he did) and Gadsby has turned down the offer, he did mention about 5/6 months ago he offered them 15 million to buy the club but it wasnt accepted.. I don't know what to make of this rumour, no reason to lie outright but its probably just hearsay around the club(no, not the ***** pop band)
davenportram Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 The bit about Glick being left stranded I can believe. He no longer appears on the "our team" but of GSE website, and that other American went back to the states last month didn't he.

Ramalama Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I wouldn't be surprised if Gadsby wasn't interested now he's been made a scapegoat for our relegation from the Prem and the resulting dog's abuse he got. GSE should have accepted his previous offer, they've little chance of getting anything like that back now wer'e heading for lg 1

dantheram Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 this club is slowly being killed, no 'supporter' with the means to do something about it could sit by and watch, could they?
dabber Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 If true, then I also wonder if that is why Cloughie always speaks highly of Glick as he understands what is going on and how Glick has been stranded and has his hands tied. Perhaps they could speak out together and tell the "truth", embarrass the owners into selling up!?
Dangerous Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 they could if they have been p1ssed about as much as Gadsby has. Some of you may recall that on the DET site a couple of years ago Gadsby was public enemy number 1 for some bizarre reason. I wouldnt blame him for wanting nothing to do with it.

Dangerous Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 course he still loves the club.he probably doesnt want the hassle though.
welsh dragon Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 course he still loves the club.he probably doesnt want the hassle though. ok but why make a bid for the club i would welcom him back
CumbrianRam Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 ok but why make a bid for the club i would welcom him back That was over a year ago! Situations change.
Hartley Hare Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 If true, then I also wonder if that is why Cloughie always speaks highly of Glick as he understands what is going on and how Glick has been stranded and has his hands tied. Perhaps they could speak out together and tell the "truth", embarrass the owners into selling up!? New owner = new manager, perhaps.....? It could be that Nigel has been backing Glick to try to persuade him to stay at the club and thereby make his own job (and those of his mates on the staff) more secure - that'd be 1 reason why Clough might speak highly of Glick. Of course, it doesn't matter if Glick wants out or not, surely it's down to the shareholders, not GSE, to decide whether to sell up or not...?
mac Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 mac that cant be ture because andy appleby and the other investers was at the game against the red dog and that was 2 or 3 weeks ago so that statement cant be ture and also gasby is not interested in derby on the field he is interested in the development that he could do round the ground
ESR Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I've got to say, the whole Glick being left behind by the other Americans does seem very believable. It could explain as to why we aren't spending much money and why Clough and Glick seem to be looking out for each other. We all know one of the investors (Jeff Mallett) is one of the men behind the Vancouver Whitecaps revival, maybe thats taking his full attention nowadays? Are we left abandoned by Appleby and co? If so, we need new investment in from elsewhere
nookiebear Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 i do think peter is a derby fan BUT he is a derby fan second to being a property developer and in my opinion when he did that website and tried to buy the rams back it really said he was only interested in building the plaza!!! i dont hink we'd be any better off in the long run if we had him as a chairman again. thanks for all youve done but im glad your not interested cos i thought the plaza was a w4nk idea!
Ramalama Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 The fans perceived it as being all about the plaza, which was just another stick to beat him with. He made his bid to buy us back when GSE were starting to run us down and he obviously expected a good response from supporters fed up with GSE. He must have been totally taken aback at the abuse he got, I wouldn't him blame if he thought screw that, I'll leave them to the Americans. Theres this weird perception of loyalty with football/Derby fans, with a few exceptions, if you criticise the current owners/manager/players, no matter how useless or bad for the club they are, then you are seen as being disloyal to the club, but as soon as they leave, or are shown the door, then they are given endless abuse even if the vast majority of their work was good for the club. Even Pickering, after everything he did the club, wasn't exempt from it. I don't buy into it myself, but it never ceases to amaze me.
