From the little that I've read he is just supposed to be training with us to get fit. No mention of a deal, just an unattached player training with his home town club before trying to secure a deal somewhere.

Of course, if he gets fit he can always play on a non-contract basis, which could be helpful to both club and player. I would suggest that a fully fit Riggott would be better than a half fit Barker, a lethargic Leacock and a pretty green Ayala. Of course that pre-supposes that Riggs will ever be fully fit, but if not, he doesn't play.

I can't see any downside to this - unless they offer him a three year deal off the back of two good games that is.
