Why?

1) We knew Ayala was injured

2) We knew, or could guess, the amount needed to land Sammon

3) We know we have 2 left backs

4) We know we have sold our top goal scorers

5) We knew Waghorn was likely to stay put 48hrs ago

So the obvious question is why on earth have we done sod all about it?

I dont expect its all the boards fault either, yes they are to blame but Clough needs to take a long hard look at himself here. Where was plan b? where was common sense?

I am going to answer this as well as I can.

Taking all of your point into consideration I have come to the conclusion that we are fooked. Despite you lot being good supporters and patient I think tomorrow would be a good time for no one to show up.

I agree it does appear we are very one dimensional at times when going for transfer targets.

I remember in the days of Smith/Burley etc they always tended to move on to the next target if there were stumbling blocks with the one they originally wanted.

Just wondering whether the scouting network is rather limited, perhaps part of the cutbacks, hence not many actual players we know alot about.

And usually our valuation of these targets is way below the clubs who hold their current signature the majority of the time.

I'm rather baffled as regards Moxey, most fans including myself thought he had improved on last seasons backend form, but Mr Clough seems to think otherwise.

Personally I would have released Roberts on a free transfer to save his wages, he's 33 in a few days time and can't remember him having a decent game since he came here, surely past it.

I thought the question might be Why are we all still on here, watching SSN and checking the BBC website? I would have had to answer that I have no idea and with that I'm off.......nothing going to happen.

Typing can't do my current emotions justice!

To me, for quite a while now, it has looked like we have no plan B. I think it became obvious when we were linked with Waghorn and Ayala earlier in the month and we were playing the waiting game despite being desperate for players that we had no one else lined up at all.

Thats why the club are still clinging on to the hopes of Ayala to recover from injury next month and Waghorn to be allowed out on loan (probably next month)

Do they actually realise that every game is vital, waiting for 2 players for a month to join is seriously doing some damage to us.

I'm not sure why people dont want to protest during the game.

It will give us something to do!

Why not support the team, whilst they're on the pitch

And also bring down the players confidence even further.

Protests should be outside.

I would prefer to risk losing tomorrow nights game and let the board know what we think.

If i'm totally honest i dont give two hoots what the team do at the minute, i want this board out now.

this is baffling

clough came in with a supposed knowledge of young players from the lower leagues that could build a side capable of taking us forward.

Moxey was the first of that type of signing.

He was pretty average last year ...but this year he's done quite well ....starting to justify the faith shown in him. But not only does Nigel keep talking up Roberts...he accepts an offer on Moxey that settles for a very modest profit and puts us back a step.

Ok....we are so skint that the Moxey deal was obviously intended to finance the bid for Sammons but.....

this is all a load of ****.......there is clearly is no strategy whatsoever and Nigel is as clueless and as culpable in this as anyone.

Next.

We. Are. Not. F****d

a perspective, guys, is necessary. We are Derby County fans.

we have reached the heights, well nearly until a cheating ref cost us a european final place; and the lows, of which Crawley is but the very latest in a long line. We have been in the (proper) third division; in the high court, minutes away from going out of business; been owned by crooks - maxwell and the amigos - and by incompetents; and been managed and run by worse than incompetents (personal view - that's not now)

Thank the lord that we support an interesting club instead of one constantly at the top, or the bottom come to that. It is times like these that make the good times extra specially good, and the bad times bearable.

But this is not a bad time, and certainly not as our history goes. We have only failed to bring in anyone on transfer deadline day. In a January window when everyone says that players are overvalued anyway. Who have Arsenal bought, or most other clubs? Torres at £50m; an injured Carroll at £35m+; £100m in the month? Plus all the add ons and wages to match. Recession, what recession? It's like football operates in a parallel universe.

The window - for emergency loans - opens again in a few days time. Who's to say that players won't come in then?

As for Ayala we might yet have him for a good 15 or so games. He might be good. He might not. Why have him now if he's not fit and we have to pay him? What's the point? Moxey - great lad, tried hard, not bad, had some good moments. But not enough, in my view.

I won't say 'have faith' because that lumps me into one side of a long running argument on these pages, but let's all have a 'perspective' and let's at least support our team tomorrow night. They need us.

And dare i say it, we need them.

This would have been valid 12 months ago, but for many people it has gone too far now.

The constant drivel about loans and better value simply is not enough now, everyone who goes to games knows where we need investment yet we have nothing, yet again!

Great post. I had been getting a bit despondent, but that sense of perspective has helped.

Good post, some people revel in misery though so best let them enjoy it, eh

Tommorrow night is going to be interesting, to say the very least.
