Seems like a player who we might be in for in the summer. His contract is up. Maybe as Davies replacement. He is highly rated up in Scotland and apparently Blackburn were sniffing around a couple of weeks ago. He has scored a hatrick once this season in the cup, but thats about it. Fits well into the players fot the future bracket. He is 22, so there would be compensation to pay even if he were to join in the summer. There would be more competition for his signiture by then.

Doesn't the compensation thing only apply to Football League clubs?

Thought to have been watched by our 'scouts' last weekend, according to the DET.

22 year old striker, out of contract, 12 goals this season.

Was he the lad which scored from the half way line for Scotland u21s?

yup! thats the lad. good player for his age. 300k would be decent for a young international (all be it a scottish international!) i'd be very happy for this to go through though i think we will probably go for rooney

400k compensation sounds a bit steep to me- how do they arrive at these figures? 12 goals in a season in Scotland is hardly a massive achievement anyway

£400k is hardly a massive figure either though, Porter levels of purchase. Worth a punt, surely?

Aberdeen are in talks with Derby County over the future of striker Chris Maguire with the Championship side prepared to take the striker to Pride Park.

Maguire is out of contract at the end of this season but has been offered a new deal by the Dons. Under FIFA rules the striker is allowed to leave the club under freedom of contract but only if training compensation is paid to Aberdeen.

Derby have made their interest in the Scotland Under-21 international known and STV understands the clubs are in talks over compensation with Aberdeen entitled to a payment in the region of £400,000.

Maguire had said last week that he was open to the possibility of remaining at Pittodrie. He confirmed that he had been offered a three-year deal to stay at the club but wanted a two year contract.

It is understood that although Aberdeen were prepared to offer the shorter term, Derby’s interest has now been made firm and that move is Maguire’s preferred option. With the Championship club accepting the need to pay compensation, it is likely that agreement will be reached and the player will discuss personal terms with Derby.

The striker scored 12 times in 45 appearances this season and was a key player in the Scotland Under-21 side that narrowly missed out on a place at the European Championships.
