dabber
So that works out at just under 5K a week in the Champs, so we are pretty much on average. However our attendance is what 12th best in the country so simplistically we can pay more than average, but do we... After Savage goes who are the big earners? Bywater, Green, Pearson, Steve Davies..... So if we are pulling in 25K worth of attendance monies but not shelling out a complementary amount we are being short changed by this board Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5223-salaries/#findComment-125851 Share on other sites
Srg
yes because high attendance = money generated spent on wages. what insane world do you live in? have you completely forgot the debt we have? Alex W
Our wage cap is around £8k i'm led to believe, and we've one of the highest wage bills in the league. Or atleast did before Hull/Pompey etc came down. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5223-salaries/#findComment-125853 Share on other sites
Stimacked
Our wage cap is around £8k i'm led to believe, and we've one of the highest wage bills in the league. Or atleast did before Hull/Pompey etc came down. No wonder we could not compete with the likes of Doncaster in the Summer window! I am guessing that the likes of Commons and Savage would be on more than this though. Also, would Barker be on that considering he just signed a new long term contract? The players signed by Billy, still at the club are Leacock, Bywater and Pearson. All have since signed new contracts under Glick`s term as Chairman of football. Would they all be on around that amount?? The players Jewell signed still here (out of about 21 signings! ) are Savage, Green, Commons, S. Davies and Mendy. Of those lot, Green we know extended, could be he is on around the 8k figure. Doubt very much Savage is on as little as that, maybe this so called "cap" is something started this season and something Glick has been asked to lay on Clough, so maybe that is a reason why Savage says he won`t be here next season. Maybe his previous contract was done before a Cap was layed on. Of the players Clough signed, I don`t think many would be on more than 8k a week even if there was no cap, most were coming here from lower league sides or as fringe players (Cwyka). Also, where does the supposed offer of 15k to Commons that he has officially not yet rejected fit into the picture? Alex W
When I say cap, I should point out it's a general figure, or so i'm told. Not as in "Must be £8k or no deal' but 'Near enough to be deemed fine'. So you could go to £10k on a fair few players but not all. There aren't that many players on over that. I think the right players are offered over it, if the deal is right. Leacock is over that, as is Bywater just I think. My numbers could be wrong though. I was told Pearson is on £6k now but that could be wrong as i've heard £10k banded about in some places. The Commons bid was true, they're willing to totally ignore the wage bill in special cases. (My numbers have been proved right and wrong in the past, its merely what i've been told) Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5223-salaries/#findComment-125855 Share on other sites
Gary Teale
I don't think any of us have a clue what players are on and in players contracts they get all sorts of silly add ons for goal scoring, playing etc. Its all just guessing or hearsay. All I think we will know is players like sav, Bywater, pearson, leacock etc who played on the prem with us will be on the top of the wage bill and the brayfords and baileys in the middle with pringle etc at the bottom Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/5223-salaries/#findComment-125856 Share on other sites

4-2-3-1
with commons hulse and savage off the wage bill, as well as probably davies and a couple of others we will have enough wages free to sign some quality players in the summer, right?
