Games in Hand

Well other teams games in hand start to get played this week. The first being Tomorrow nights between Doncaster and Barnsley.

A draw sees us derop to 16th, a win for either team puts us down to 15th.

With Doncaster have one more game in hand on us than Barnsley I hope they win as the net result of games in hand would be just a drop to 15th place.

Heres a list of games this week

  1. 25/01/2011 Doncaster Rovers v Barnsley
  2. 25/01/2011 Nottingham Forest v Bristol City
  3. 25/01/2011 Portsmouth v Burnley
  4. 28/01/2011 Millwall v Barnsley
  5. 29/01/2011 Crystal Palace v Norwich City
  6. 29/01/2011 Hull City v Queens Park Rangers
  7. 29/01/2011 Ssausagehorpe United Preston North End 0

We could do with Scum and Burnley winning as that would keep teams beow us on 31 points. Also if Hull lost at the weekend we would be 3 points behind them with a game in hand.

The promising thing is that the teams around us are playing teams high up the league. Apart from donny/barnsley game, you wouldn't expect any of those teams to get any points.

Maybe Portsmouth, but the rest have tough games in hand.

How depressing to be looking below us yet again and hoping teams lose/get the result we need. At least my instinctive tendency to look for Derby from the bottom up will be once more justified.

Doncaster may not have wanted to play it on Saturday - it would have been a really busy time for them playing midweek and Saturday for 3 weeks. I tihnk they still had their replay to play against Wolves as well las week - it would have been very short notice to wait until after that to arrange the fixture.

we are only looking below us this week because we are not playing so the only thing that can happen is a drop in position. We are only 3 points from 11th.

I've been looking below us the last few weeks and inless fortunes change looks like it could continue. 3 points is alot considering in the past 11 or so games we have only managed to scrape a point at home and beat rock bottom by the skin of our teeth. I wish I shared your optimism in looking up but I envisage a very tough end to the campaign.

We could indeed drop below Bristol as well - I missed them when I looked at possible league positions.

However we will have a game in hand on them after tonight as well.

On further checking we could drop four if Pompy win by five clear goals
