August 29, 2024Aug 29 not sure how much he’s got at a higher level than this. Is a little bit of a cut in and shoot merchant, and offers nothing out of possession. That said, obviously be great for Plymouth to lose him for our sakes.

Slightly more seriously though I do suspect he's got levels to develop to him with time and the right manager especially as he's still got room to develop physically. Based on everything we've seen with his development I don't think we will see what he's truly capable for a good few years yet and not until he's fully ready to make the shift centrally.

November 10, 2024Nov 10 Whilst I was always wary whenever he got on the ball yesterday, we handled him pretty well (the ref fell for most of his play-acting though) yesterday. There seems to be a split of opinion on him on the Plymouth board - some understandably not willing to be overly critical of a player whose done so well for them over the last 2.5 seasons, with others wondering where his head is and whether they can keep playing him purely in the hope that he bangs in a 25 yarder every one in a while. I thought at the time that Plymouth might have missed their moment when there was £10m+ figures floating around for him last January, but it was understandable that they hung on to him hoping to avoid relegation, just. It's pretty clear though that they could do with strengthening, but I think they may have missed their best opportunity to get maximum value for him. He looks, to me, like a player who doesn't want to be there anymore.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 Should have hightailed it out of there the moment the idea of bringing Rooney in was mooted.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 The only thing that made him standout yesterday was all his attempts at diving and cheating. He would have to up his work rate to get a game in a Warne team.
January 11Jan 11 Morgan scored the winner from 25 yards for Plymouth against Brentford in the FA Cup. Their 1st away win this season. Well done Morgan. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c93grlkrpyrt Edited January 11Jan 11 by cstand

January 12Jan 12 Burnley back in for him apparently. Do we think any (if we even had them) sell on clauses are done with?

I imagine all we'd be entitled to is a solidarity payment based on the below. It would be around 5% of the fee, or possibly slightly less as Whittaker was 20 when he left to join Swansea. I haven't seen any rumoured fees, but Plymouth reportedly wanted £15mil this time last year. That would've earnt us £750k, so anything near that would be very, very welcome. https://www.easportslaw.com/news/training-compensation-and-solidarity-mechanism
January 23Jan 23 Didnt even bother to show up for the game last night vs Burnely who are in for him and he was in starting lineup, manager was very pissed. Shows a real bad attiude from him , always thought he looked lazy and half assed when he played for Derby. Talented player but question marks over his attiude and professionalism.

January 23Jan 23 My Swansea mate said he was pulling this kind of thing when Plymouth were after him...

January 24Jan 24 I understand the commercial side of football, obviously depending on Plymouth's stance. If he feels like he's being unfairly treated then the only route he has left is to essentially go on strike to force a move. It leaves a bitter taste in everyone's mouth, but that's life at the end of the day. For what it's worth, Morgan Whittaker is very much part of the problem at Plymouth. He is a scorer of great goals and can win games out of nothing, but his general play is a massive concern. He doesn't retain the ball well, he doesn't press well, he is a liability when not scoring. If Middlesbrough have signed him to get them over the line, I think they're in for a huge shock. I think he makes the markedly worse.

That sounds like me in my playing days - apart from the scoring of great goals, or even goals.
