A Place in the Sun

A Place In The Sun / Escape To The Country / etc: A couple look at three properties but then decide they need more time to consider their options as none of them are quite right for them. 😉

Please tell me you broke the mould, also please tell me you're not one of those "we've been very successful so now want to relax a little, Gerald sold his company a few years back and we've earned it" couples.

5 properties. Ours has a bit of a 'twist'. No we are not that well off (nor are we Tories) 😁

I need to go on a diet!

That was a good watch, you both came across really well on the telly, and props to the seller for giving you a discount price.

Lovely place, and the location couldn't be bettered.

Don't forget the camera adds 10 lbs.

As do the crisps and beer!

Thanks for the comments. Arrived back from there this lunchtime after a few days building furniture as they’re filming us again next month for the ‘what happened next’ show!

Don't think I've ever watched the show before but I enjoyed that. Congrats on the place as well.

Was the presenter the same off-camera as he was on? He seemed like a very happy chap 😂

From Bristol innit? We’re all happy down here.

Keep away from the Cassoulet.

If you want to go on a diet, you may have bought a house in the wrong area. The food is fantastic around there.

I liked the sign for "Cassoulet+ Salad" - who are they trying to kid?!

It is if you’re not vegetarian like me!

Yes he’s a nice guy. Still messages us both often.

  • 1 month later...

Was away when this went live, (camping in France... How spooky is that!) and only just got around to catching up.

First off, massive congratulations.  That's a great result, and I wish you both many years of happiness there. 🥂

We've rapidly been falling in love with France over the past Decade and a bit, and now take both of our main holiday fortnights over there.  (Camping, and mooching around on cycles).

Carcassonne (and surrounding areas, especially the canal du midi)) has very much been on my "Must Go To" list since we first went over in 2013.  Sadly, we haven't quite made it yet, but I've seen nothing in this episode to put me off.  It's very much our sort of holiday area.
We won't make it this year, as we've already had one fortnight top right in Alsace, and planning to visit our son and his French wife in their new house 200 miles west of your new gaff, over in Mont De Marsan this coming September.

Maybe 2025, with fingers crossed... and if we make it, I'll be in touch, to arrange a meet up in Place Carnot... whether you want to or not!  🤣

Massive well done to you both!

Thanks very much! Yes meeting up would be great! We are here for five weeks as it’s the music festival month and have booked flights for an even longer stay this time next year.
