That'd be why they bombed derby in WW2.

Too Right !

We were very lucky compared to Coventry and Filton (Near Bristol)

It seems that during World War II 74 people were killed by German bombing in Derby and over 300 were injured.

Rolls-Royce was their prime objective in Derby because, if they had crippled that factory, the Battle of Britain would have been lost.

There's one in the Silk Mill Museum PTR if you want a picture.

I've seen it. I would have added that picture but thought it would be better to add ones i had taken myself.

And no, i did not take the pictures of the Spitfire, Hurricane and Mustang. Had no choice but to add them from ones i found on the net, hope nobody will mind.

Merlin's on the Lancaster bomber as well I think?

Yep, can't forget the Lancaster's.

Avro Lancaster, de Havilland Mosquito, Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Handley Page Halifax and no doubt many more.

I went to a RR Open Day a few weeks ago. They have many of the engines at the Wilmore and Osmaston Road sites.
