Oh the EFL insists on you being proved to be skint and fraudulent before blocking you, and how can you be proved to be skint and fraudulent if you don't get approval to take over an EFL club.

The EFL are galaxy brains compared to us mere mortals.

There are a lot of people who need investigating.

We had certain "football fixers" who introduced Kirch to Derby and were seen when he was being shown round. We had reporters claiming he was worth billions, had bought a plane for 100 million etc. SJ on Talksport was lauding him as some multi-billionaire businessman who means business.

We also had councillors and business leaders in the city drinking with him, some of which telling us he was the real deal.

Then we had Quantuma, who would have gone through his deal, approved it and presented to the EFL.

Then the famous EFL fit and proper test. Which let's be honest, Del Boy could buy Wigan Athletic with a suitcase full of dracmas and some hooky VCRs.

Then there's our old club owner, who apparently, favoured Kirch over Ashley.

Last but not least, the wife, who tweeted "you got the Kirch".

Surely to god all of these people werent blind sided by 1 man.

I will just add..one man I was critical of throughout our near demise was Keiran Maguire, and actually, he was the one man that saw through it all.

Dear EFL,

The answer's quite straightforward really, it's because it isn't a "Hmm, I think this guy's a bit dodgy" test (nor is it called the 'fit and proper persons' test).

Unfortunately for all of us, he didn't meet any of the disqualifying criteria - which is stuff like being banned as a director elsewhere, criminal record, can't provide proof of funds documents etc - and technically what he presented to them, to us, to Stretford et al checked out. Remember, Mel Morris could stroll into another club if he wanted to, there's technically nothing stopping him either.

What should be under investigation, or rather what should be under review, is how stringent these checks are but but then we don't know what legal restrictions the EFL were working under and whether there's actually any more they can do when setting them.

Kirchner had the money in all the right places to pass the checks as they exist -  it just wasn't his!

He was gambling on not being found out. He got cocky, drunk on this newfound lifestyle but as his profile rose his actions began to attract unwanted attention, and ultimately it's lead to where we are now with the FBI charges.

It seems in attempting to buy a football club he bit off more than he could chew, and you have to wonder what the end-goal was when he continued the pursuit despite a growing number of eyes on his back - surely he knew it would come crashing down, so what would owning Derby County (or just Pride Park) actually have done for him? What was the point of it all?

Did he think he could buy us, move to England and escape what was coming?
