Frontman Ryan Noble was the reserves' top scorer in 2009-10, bagging 12 goals in just nine starts and a further eight appearances off the bench.

The lightning-fast forward was also prolific for the youth team, netting 25 goals from just 22 appearances for an overall goalscoring tally of 37 for the season.

Noble - who is blessed with deadly finishing ability - joined Championship side Watford on loan late in the season but didn't make it off the bench.

The England U19 international also made his senior debut for Sunderland last season, coming off the bench during the 3-0 FA Cup win over Barrow in January 2010.

He also figured in a number of first-team squads and was an unused sub on several occasions.

Former Sunderland scholar Noble is expected to crack the senior squad during the 2010-11 season.

Derby County have today landed England U19 striker Ryan Noble on an emergency loan from Premier League Sunderland.

The former Sunderland Academy hot-shot has joined on a month's loan and goes straight into the Rams squad to face Middlesbrough at Pride Park on Tuesday evening in the npower Championship.

He becomes Derby's second striker signing in a matter of days after the arrival of Luke Moore from West Bromwich Albion last Friday.

19-year-old Noble has been a prolific marksman for Sunderland's youth and reserve sides in recent seasons, where he caught the eye of Derby boss Nigel Clough.

Last season he was the top scorer for Sunderland's reserve side, bagging 12 goals in just nine starts and a further eight appearances off the bench.

Clough told dcfc.co.uk: "Ryan is a young lad with a good reputation coming from Sunderland, and we're pleased he has chosen to come here.

"Steve Bruce (Sunderland manager) rates him highly and thinks this will be a good part of his development.

"We've watched Ryan a few times and have been impressed with him"

Noble made his professional debut for Sunderland in the FA Cup last season as a substitute in their victory over Barrow, replacing England international striker Darren Bent after 72 minutes with the Black Cats already 3-0 up.

He also been an unused substitute for the Black Cats on several occasions.

Noble had a short spell with Watford last season, but didn't make a first-team appearance for the Hornets before returning the Stadium of Light.

He has also been capped by England's under 19 side and scored the opening goal in their 4-1 European Championship qualifier win against Bosnia earlier this year.
