Ramzabac
Question- This thread has been great and I have followed it while wearing out the refresh button. So apologies if I have missed the answer/views to this question. It seems to me that next Thursday when the fixtures are announced will be crucial and whilst I hear that the EFL are not demanding the sale of the club will be concluded by then, we are highly unlikely to be out of administration, so will this be a clear indicator of the EFLs position and intent? Will they: 1. Include us in the fixtures? 2. Do what they did last season and show Derby or Mansfield, but with a similar knock on down the leagues? 3. Not include DCFC (promoting Mansfield) on the principle that we cannot guarantee to fulfil our fixtures. Clearly this would be the nuclear option 4. Another option? If the EFL are hell bent on protecting what they see as the ‘integrity’ of the league through a full and guaranteed fixture list for L1 clubs, then either they have been given confidence one of the bidders will come through soon and keep us in the L1 fixture list or we are close to the threat of expulsion. maxjam
6 minutes ago, Carnero said: Why do people keep trotting out the line "we have 5 players" when the retained list clearly shows we have more than that ? Clearly we need at least a dozen players added to the first team squad, but Byrne, Buchanan, Bielik, Bird, Knight, Sibley & Stretton alone is 8 not 5. Cashin, Watson & Thompson will soon be added to that list too in all likelihood. Cos 5 is the figure often quoted in the media. If its 8 rather than 5, thats hardly any better. 'Cashin, Watson & Thompson will soon be added to that list too in all likelihood.' so no currently on the books for next season? How many of other retained players will be good enough/old enough for anything other than fulfilling fixtures? Wasn't it Rooney that said we needed 40 odd players for next season. BTW I don't mean to have a go at you, just getting increasingly frustrated with another week gone since Kirchner pulled out and conflicting media stories that ultimately tell us nothing. Haha yeah I was referring to an earlier I post I made in which the media told us that Appleby had submitted a £40m bid only to tell us a couple of days later he'd submitted a £50m bid. Now its a joint Appleby/Morgan bid. Getting fed up with official silence, the crap in the media and time running out. jimtastic56

We could easily get a team out with those players (excluding the ones out of contract that we've offered something to)... how competitive that team would be would remain to be seen but we could fulfil fixtures. maxjam
Just now, Carnero said: Not like you to just trot out the media line... ? 8 is 60% more than 5, so 60% better in my book! ? Given the speed at which things seem to happen, I've got to assume that the current plan is to go into next season with the aim of simply fulfilling fixtures with a squad made up of mostly untested players. Of the 8 senior pros we have got, Bielek is to be loaned out and others will inevitably be sold to buy us more time. The number of players we have or haven't got or the amount of kits we've ordered etc wasn't really the point of my post, it was the different media stories coming every few days telling us we've had a £40m bid, a £50m bid, now potentially a joint bid. Wake me up when we actually have something confirmed, I can actually buy a season ticket and not concern myself with finding a new hobby for a Saturday afternoon. jimtastic56
JPRamFan
So yesterday we hear Natalie Jackson report that Appleby tabled a 50mil bid. Now the mirror report that Appleby and Morgan are considering a joint bid. What is it then? Derby4Me and jimtastic56

On the basis of still in admin then yes, if we can show funding for the season (somehow as we cant sell season tickets, and don't the EFL get to keep our TV money?) then I believe that retained list will be seen as the maximum squad size for us by the EFL. They will then operate a 'one in one out' approach perhaps with some grace for an emergency loan of a goalkeeper (which will be spun as them being more than generous). My gut is that whomsoever is our manager then would need to lose about 3 of the "Big 6" and at least 6 of the other young ones to try to get 9 or so players in that can compete. Yes in early July I can see it being even more desperate and being like this, but by the end of July the ownership issue must reach a head - although Qs rates for trading (which we do more in season?) does mean that it is in their best interests to hang on a bit longer as let's face this must be their last gig in football and Carl Jackson wont want to go home to Billy's sloppy seconds any time soon... End of July or even August then I'm convinced its MA. If its earlier and I'm utterly wrong ? then perhaps a Appleby, and / or Morgan takeover is it. maxjam
