You'd hope that the Tracey crouch fan led review might have made some sensible proposals about segregating away areas into quieter zones which are effectively stewarded.

Instead, the news was about ending the ban on drinking in your seats......

I mean really.......?

Astonishing isn’t it

I like the idea of segregated away areas and Derby did at least try to indicate this when selling tickets a few seasons ago. Now you can choose your exact seat you'd think it would happen naturally, but it doesn't.

Strangely, I support alcohol in seats as it would help people to pace their drinking instead of necking their pints in record time in the breaks. This is often what sends people over the top, imo.

I agree. It's been getting steadily worse for a couple of seasons. For me, it seemed to start in the Lampard season.

I have gone from looking forward to awaydays to dreading some of them.

We used to be able to separate ourselves out from the trouble to some extent, by swapping a decent view for safety down at the front. Doesn't seem to work any more and asking someone on row two to sit down or at least calm down the obscene gesticulating to opposition supporters and you get met with foul mouthed abuse and a flat refusal.

When I do mention it on here, there is always a small minority making noises about women or old folks - and presumably kids - having no right to go to away games.

Yet when we get to the midweek away games in the middle of nowhere it's us who are still there, getting behind the team.

My other main gripe is the unseemly chants that some think up. I can't believe other fans get sucked into singing them. Get behind the lads by praising us, not slagging off the opposition. It's cheap and it's nasty and it is not the face of the club I want to see.

I didn't go yesterday after I got a shed load of abuse from our own fans last time we went there (piled into the back of the stand despite being nowhere near the seats they had paid for.) I was scared for my safety. It sounds like I made a wise decision.

Sorry to read this...it's 2021 and things are getting worse, As part of the older community i've noticed there's a "pack" mentality with cowards, Football has seen is seeing more and more of "I can do what the bloody hell i want to do" England fans rushing Wembley stadium a prime example, Beer and drugs is the fuel that cowards hide behind.

I've taken up the offer of going to the Preston game, I'll be on my guard.

Btw Sheffield United police are useless. Letting all fans leave at the same time ? surely they knew it was gonna kick off. But instead of breaking up fights and the people throwing stuff they ended up starting on me and my cousin for walking in the middle of the road because we didn’t want trouble on the small pavements. Called the police officer a melon and told him to duck off and do his job. Their were lots of small kids while people were throwing coins and bottles. Was mostly sheff United lot that got arrested tho

For some strange reason our fans were calling him a nonce for the majority of the match ??‍♂️.

Not just the majority of the match but outside the ground before and after the match and loudly and drunkenly in front of police and stewards and yet nothing is said or acted upon  to stop it and that’s where the problem lies not just at games but in society generally.

The problem now with the alcohol in seats would be if we scored everyone would get wet through. Bring back the good old bog roll I say.

It’s a nice idea and should work of course but the same halfwits you highlight just can’t be trusted with adult drinks. People will be up and down moving to the bar throughout the game. Spilling and throwing beer whenever there’s a moment of excitement or controversy. Perhaps if there was a £20 deposit on the plastic glass and all bars closed during the game.

Stewards dont seem to drag people out any more. Assume away fan areas still videoed by police - isnt anything done afterwards?

Very rarely. Tbh, the stewards look as terrified as we are, apart from in a few grounds, where they love wading in (Leeds away!)

You’re right, it definitely seemed to get worse in the Lampard season. I went to Bristol City away in 2019 and there was a sizeable proportion of dheads in their Stone Island/CP Company uniforms who spent the entire game facing the home fans and baiting them. The following season at Brentford I had to tell some spotty little rick to get the duck out of my seat and then had to stand for the whole match because of another group of utter retards in front of me blocking the view. I could cope with that but older fans and people with kids have their matchdays ruined by these morons.

They have made following the Rams away a chore quite frankly with their coked up boorish behaviour and something needs to be done to sort them out.

Its a shame. Few years back the club acknowledged that the lad lost his child. During the 90 minutes its a pantomime. It's Derby fans job to make the environment has uncomfortable to play it to give our team the best chance of success. He constantly scores against us, we're not going to encourage that behaviour. He's out of order, I feel.

I take it you weren’t there

Agree with quite a bit of this. My experience of away days has been mixed, sometimes it's great fun and the vast majority are alright other times there are issues with a minority of our support, some of which shamefully tar the rest of us with their actions. I don't have a problem with people singing songs about other teams or players and as football is a tribal sport that's going to happen and they can be comedic in fairness. I join in because I think there are multiple ways you can support your team and a bit of rivalry can be a good thing to create a better atmosphere.

But there have been 1 or 2 incidents over the past couple of years that make me think 'why on earth are you going to football?'. In general yesterday was great fun, got behind the lads and apart from that song it was really good. I had travelled down from edinburgh on the friday, went to sheffield on the sturday so was already knackered so I only had 2 or 3 pints before the game spreading them out between the globe and the concourse. But I don't understand people who have 9, 10, 11 and basically are gone... I think the vast majority joined in because some lads started it so early and people had been drinking since 12 so by the time they got to the ground they'd had a few and lost some of their senses.

I was standing outside the away entrance when the fans came in with a police escort, lots of them them were already well gone

Would just like to give a bit of a shout out for Sam Baldock , noticed some of the ratings for Sam again yesterday and i found some of them quite harsh , Sam works very hard for the team , always moving , making himself available , very industrious player , think hes being harshly treated by some for his missed chances and lack of goals , Sam has never been prolific and works better in a two , just think some should lay off him a little bit

He passed the ball around Roos. He had to knock It far enough away from him to get It round him, he knew exactly what he was doing, and did It very well, Roos was stupid commuting that far out with no chance of getting the ball.
like I said, if It had been the other way around you would be screaming for him to be sent off.

Here are the screenshots of footage jsut before Sharp knocks it past Roos, and when the ball touches the ground for the first time from that knock on.

Screenshot_20210926-115954_Derby.thumb.jpg.757c9384fed04c8cbaefc1197854db57.jpgScreenshot_20210926-120010_Derby.thumb.jpg.c794366ac1de48a95347d4f7fb51f663.jpg

Bad decision making from Roos on this occasion. As soon as he started coming out you could tell Sharp was going to get there first.

A gentle knock past Roos and it's a red as there would have been no chance of Jagielka getting back for a block

As shown by the second image, the knock on from Sharp took it too wide (I'm doubtful of it actually being a pass). Jagielka had recovered well enough to prevent any chance of an obvious goal scoring opportunity.

To be honest, I was surprised the ref didn't let play go on to see the result of the other Sheff Utd players' attempt on goal, then returned to card Roos.
