Throw-ins

Can't believe we are so atrocious at keeping the ball from a throw-in. 

Two players at most making themselves available (rather half-heartedly) before being muscled off the ball. 

In the end we just threw it to them and hoped to pick up the clearance. 

Indicative of a lack of desire to get on the ball. We need to commit more players to throw-ins so we can use them to build attacks not surrender possession.

I thought this was going to be a question on where can you get the lovely fluffy towels used to dry the ball! ? How is this allowable?

It’s been an ongoing problem for a while.

Some teams use throw ins to move up the pitch to keep possession and improve their foot hold in the game……we are not one of them. 
 

We waste so many of them and often put ourselves in a worse position we might as well not have any.
 

We also  miss the opportunity for so many quick throw ins as we always wait for the same two to take them, who are poor at them and who then look back, take their time, give the ball away and we start again!

West Brom were using throw ins to advance a good five yards up the pitch before they even took it last night. Every bloody time! ?

Normally we throw the ball backwards and build out from the back again, with the change of tactics last night we ended up throwing it down the line and hoped for the best but I didnt mind the tactic too much as a lot of the time we got another throw in and managed to gain yards into their half.

With the size of our midfield & attacking players we're always going to struggle to win much in the air, so we have to aim for feet but when you have 2 or 3 players around you it is always going be difficult to get out, although 1st half I thought Jozwiak did this really well.

I think on Saturday we will go back to throwing it backwards and keeping possession.

The beauty of that was, The Ref pointed to where the throw should be taken from and yet they still moved 5-6 yards forward, But then again in injury time when the Ref spoke to one of their coaching staff for Byrne pinching a few yards, The play was held up for 30seconds, The throw should have been taken in our own half but ended up being taken after a run up in their half.

Wasn't there some sort of word from the authorities to STOP! using a towel when cleaning the ball a few seasons back? they could only use their shirts.

Up until recently it seemed to have disappeared from the game & was often mocked as only used by teams who couldn't play proper football.

Now, it seems to be most opponents use it

Just wait until winter sets in, WBA will have hair dryers installed around the pitch, because you can throw a warm dry ball further.

It's annoying when refs give you the hurry up, but allow teams to spend ages, drying the ball with a towel.

The balls are very light compared to older types of ball and a lot easier to actually throw a lot longer distance - also you are allowed to get away with fouling more this season until it would be an advantage to us then they would stop it ?

CKR would always show for throw ins, in the opponents half and usually maintain possession.

I’ve never understood football - you spend most of the match looking to get into a crossing position but then you get a throw in or corner and you don’t put it into the box? It defies logic… unless you’re Derby where you’re entire front six is 5 foot 7.

Bizarrely, I think we move it forward (like every other team to steal a few yards) but often throw it backwards.

Actually Ralph, the ball has been a standard weight under Rule 2 since before WW2. 14-16oz.

The weight yes but the texture and grip on them is completely different
