Sea shanty’s and folk songs are back in vogue.
There already is and English folk song called The Derby Ram. It’s all about exaggeration.

Perhaps some words could be altered to reflect the modern era.

Just a couple of versus to add the this ditty…

The Derby Ram

As I was going to Derby to upon a Saturday

I was off to see the Mighty Rams on a Derby Day.

Yes indeed sir it’s true sir I never was one for lying

Craig got 3 Jeff got 1 and Johnny left the Red Dogs crying

As I was leaving Derby upon a Saturday

I was going to see The Ten Men  Rams beat Forest 2-1 away.

Yes indeed sir it’s true sir I never was one for lying

If’d you’d have been to Forest you’d of seen the Red Dogs crying.

The Steve Bloomers Watching chorus is a decent chant. Can be done over and over and has lasted quite a while on occasions. It’s easy enough to sing to. A modern day We Are Derby chant. It must be about 20 years old now though. Persevere with it.

It’s alright at away games but it’s not inspiring. You can’t really belt it out.

Lots of suggestions but it has to be something everyone knows, or at least a big majority.

Very few suggestions meet that criteria. Only @sage really come close so far. My only question is how you convert But- ter- cup to Der-by- ?

@DarkFruitsRam7 is the one you're suggesting the Lampard Leeds song? If so, I would be against for that reason.

Need something timeless that is about us, not the opposition.

Sexist Pig. Ban him @angieram

He's not wrong. Can you imagine our mob following the lead of a load of girls swirling pom-poms around? (Cue Kenneth Williams gif.)

They will only respond to a drunken fan with a too short top and his beer belly hanging out!

(It's easy to be sexist when you try!)

We can only hope

I gave you applause for this because I love it, not because I think it would be a good anthem!

Although the sentiment of the title is good for our long-suffering fans, any song with "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" in the lyrics is asking for trouble, imo!

I guess Johnny Russell’s Heartbeat came from another club ? … buts it’s adaptable for Derby as a team.. Always loved it and we know it

Got to have a joyful / triumphant  melody that gets everyone on board across generations .. not angry rap or niche stuff beloved of music buffs.

It's barely got any verses has it?

Always thought Dirty Old Town by the Pogues would be a great anthem

Cracking song & could be sung just as it is but would be even better if words were changed for us to make it truly ours..what we are as a club & what we've been through. My scratch effort;

I met my love at the Baseball Ground

Lost my head in the Popside sound

And that Ram still makes me feel proud

Dirty old town, Dirty old town

11 points, save your pity

Still hate Juve for 73

But that Ram still makes me feel proud

Dirty old town, Dirty old town

Cloughie's boys in 72

Dave Mackay, Cox & Smith too

They were Rams, just like me & you

Dirty old town, Dirty old town

Liverpool have already turned it into a brilliant song about Virgil Van Dijk.

Yeah, you got a point but a tune is a tune… There’s something about certain ones .. Go West fits with so many things and it can be repeated over and over, Lloyd George knew my Father, que sera sera etc etc .. it’s those that get grounds really rocking because even the quiet ones can join in. … Sunderland had Day Dream Believer for a time .. with “Cheer up Peter Reid”

Up Beat .. Beach Boys kind of optimism / good times vibe. .. Sounds old fashioned but the melodies are still here 50 years on for a reason
