Our own song (yes this again)

In the 50th anniversary season:

"We've paid our dues
Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through

And we mean to go on and on and on and on

We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World"

We do have our very own ditty, just need to jazz it up a bit:

As I was going to Derby, Sir,

All on a market day,

I met the finest Ram, Sir,

That ever was fed on hay.

Daddle-i-day, daddle-i-day,

Fal-de-ral, fal-de-ral, daddle-i-day.

This Ram was fat behind, Sir,

This Ram was fat before,

This Ram was ten yards high, Sir,

Indeed he was no more.

Daddle-i-day, etc.

The Wool upon his back, Sir,

Reached up unto the sky,

The Eagles made their nests there, Sir,

For I heard the young ones cry.

Daddle-i-day, etc.

Well DUH!... been saying it for years and the response is "it's a folk song etc...etc". But it is about why we are The Rams! So for me it's a no-brainer! Some very good versions on you-tube, Said The Maiden is one and some more punky versions if you dig deep... Sea Shanty's are in vougue at the moment (ok it's not a sea shanty - but you get me drift!)

"We'll be singin'

When we're winnin'

We'll be singin'

I get knocked down, but I get up again

You're never gonna keep me down

I get knocked down, but I get up again

You're never gonna keep me down"

'I' changed to 'we or us' of course

Is this another example of not letting the facts get in the way of a good story (or anthem in this case)?

We are the champions? Committed no crime? ?
