Played pretty well.

Great goal. Encouraging from Lawrence, playing well on injections for us.

Bird very good in possession, linking up the play to allow us to come out from the back.

Should’ve had a couple more: stretton unlucky, penalty was obvious, lawrence should’ve slipped in joz 1st half and morrison not finding final ball in last, good save from Sow 2nd half.

For me Roos can’t continue if we’re going to kick off. Yes he made a decent save against Grabban, played alright against boro but an absolute liability with the ball at his feet which is how we’re playing and at fault for their goal today (though why we didnt have a man on their thrower and allowed the cross is beyond me).

Enjoying watching us again though. On to the next one ?

Which keeper are we going to sign that’s better than Roos with the ball at their feet?

Annoying and frustrating, but no striker available to start, threadbare bench, and a point nearer this year’s goal of survival. Bird and Joswiak improving every week, and 2 weeks of the international break for Baldock, Knight, Ebosele, Kazim, Bielik to get closer to a return from injury. (And the Will Hughes sale done which should bring some cash in…)

We finished the first half badly and took it into the second half .  Change it then Wayne.  Unhappy about the handball and might have to get his players to start diving to get penalties.  Don't tell others that.

Lawrence broke down with a groin problem by the sound of it after having an injection.

I don't know, is it a tactics thing? A mentality thing?

We make ourselves look worse than we actually are. If we capitalised on a couple of the chances earlier in the game today, we could have been 3-0 up by 70 minutes, and it wouldn't have been undeserved. Instead we miss chances, and we start retreating, and our confidence starts to drop. Silly fouls, and the players look as if they're becoming more panicked.

It would help if we had a goal-scorer (fit).

Not getting the penalty was incredible, it looked like he was playing volleyball! The ref must have seen it, but certainly the linesman? The ref gave nothing for us in the box, that rugby tackle on Curtis in the last minutes summed the ref up. He didn't even speak to their player involved.

We didn't help ourselves either some of the passing in situations where players (not just Joz and Sibley) were making runs behind the defence and were ignored was poor.

We should have put them out of the game, but didn't.

I can complain about the performance or the effort everyone was committed to trying to win. I think the tactics let us down today and a bit of bad refing and a bit of bad luck. Can’t really complain if you don’t put your chances away you are always vulnerable to a late goal to draw the game.

I can take away a positive feeling that we were the better team today.

Just a note on Nathan Byrne.

If he is going to be making those runs, we simply have to pass the ball to him or the attack end with the ball out of play (preferably in the opposition net). We were caught out on the counter numerous times down our right as he was pushed so high.

Tom Lawrence and Ravel Morrison were guilty of ignoring him in acres of space, only to lose the ball and then we face a counter down that side. The coaching staff need to work on this.

Indeed. You saw it at the beginning of first half. Forest strikers/attacking midfielders were trying to find gaps in the channels between our fullbacks and CB’s. After Lawrence’s goal we got on top of it with Bird and Shinnie covering those gaps well.

But 2nd half they changed it tactically and pushed hard in these areas and got their reward. We need to find a way to counter this.

Generally heartened by that.

We should have had 2 or 3 penalties with them also having a player sent off, plus we had the better chances. But the game would have changed if Fozzy had been sent off at the start. Was it deliberate? An official could have given it.

The movement from our forwards was often great, but we're not clinical enough. And the fiasco over the (lack of the) Stretton substitution contributed to a significant momentum shift in the game.

For their goal the ball went right through all our defence and Stretton particularly should have cleared it. The player shot hard and low. It was at Roos but they're not always easy to stop. Yes it should have been kicked away but they quite often go in.

What a difference a win would have made and the fault for not winning is roughly half on the ref and half on us not taking our chances.

Marshall wasn’t great but definitely not any worse. I honestly don’t know of anyone around any better that we’d be able to get for nothing, but my comment was we’re not going to improve our current level of performance/form dramatically with him still in net.

Lawrence said calf in post match interview which sounds less worrying!
