Derby County vs Notts Forest

Really disappointed to not win the game again. If we're battling relegation without a points deduction, let alone if we do get one, then we need to be picking up maximum points. Our game management is becoming slightly concerning, even following through from last season.

Of the last 9 league games we've either drawn or lost, we've been ahead in 7 of those. The exceptions are the 0-1 loss to Norwich last season, and the 0-0 vs Middlesbrough this season. It's not good enough when you consider the sheer number of points that are being thrown away.

I swear there's a carbon monoxide leak in that dressing room whenever we're 1-0 up.

We were the much better side, but we need to be able to score more than once a game or we're going nowhere.

I was pretty stunned Jozwiak came off. Probably our brightest player in the second half. Ravel and Sibbo looked knackered and Kam was still fresh.

We lack the killer instinct but some of the play was excellent.

Why do stop playing when we take the lead? We've lost loads of points with this flawed strategy.

Game management. We have no Championship experience apart from the back 4. They all have a season or two behind them, if that. It's not enough to make the correct decisions at a late stage in a game. That's why it's so hard to win consistently with so many young players.

Who is responsible for fixing this?

1st half the dogs were hopeless, 2nd half we just didn't go for it, Forsyth could have gone for the stamp, We should have had a penalty...not given, Curtis Davis has his shirt removed...but play hadn't started and probs out the area, But unfortunately Roos yet again makes a mistake, Didn't get his body behind the ball but flaps at the ball ?

Played pretty well.

Great goal. Encouraging from Lawrence, playing well on injections for us.

Bird very good in possession, linking up the play to allow us to come out from the back.

Should’ve had a couple more: stretton unlucky, penalty was obvious, lawrence should’ve slipped in joz 1st half and morrison not finding final ball in last, good save from Sow 2nd half.

For me Roos can’t continue if we’re going to kick off. Yes he made a decent save against Grabban, played alright against boro but an absolute liability with the ball at his feet which is how we’re playing and at fault for their goal today (though why we didnt have a man on their thrower and allowed the cross is beyond me).

Enjoying watching us again though. On to the next one ?

Played well, should of won. Gutted, mistakes always cost us. 2 stonewall penalties not given. Morrison is a player but needs to pass it sometimes a bit quicker. Wouldn’t of took Joz of as he looked dangerous. Shame they were there for the taking.

Just a note on Nathan Byrne.

If he is going to be making those runs, we simply have to pass the ball to him or the attack end with the ball out of play (preferably in the opposition net). We were caught out on the counter numerous times down our right as he was pushed so high.

Tom Lawrence and Ravel Morrison were guilty of ignoring him in acres of space, only to lose the ball and then we face a counter down that side. The coaching staff need to work on this.

We can't moan about the penalities given Forsyth should've been sent off in the 6th minute and set up our goal 4 minutes later.

Ravel was blowing from about 60 minutes onwards and should've been replaced by Watson.

And Roos is an absolute fraud, a complete and utter liability - whenever there's a bit of pressure he just crumbles.

Frustrating game. Probably could have a couple penalties, created far and away the better chances and shouldn't have conceded the goal we did.

Feel like are lack of changes hurt us a bit today with several players tiring second half. Think we could have done with Watson as well with us beginning to struggle deep on the ball.

One thing I really think we need to lack at after today is the difficulty we had playing out in our left half. Hughton clearly realised we would have difficulty and they managed to mount pressure in entirely because it easy to force the ball back to Roos when it went in that area or force a mistake. We need to break up that triangle of Davies, Forsyth and Shinnie in deep areas or else this is going to be a recurring problem. It didn't help that we didn't really have an outlet or that Sibley's hold up play on the left isn't great but fundamentally we need better in that area if we want to play out from the back. At that stage in the game I think we could have done with bringing on Watson for Shinnie because Forest weren't really a threat outside of what was self inflicted but we needed to get a better handle on the game.

I don't know, is it a tactics thing? A mentality thing?

We make ourselves look worse than we actually are. If we capitalised on a couple of the chances earlier in the game today, we could have been 3-0 up by 70 minutes, and it wouldn't have been undeserved. Instead we miss chances, and we start retreating, and our confidence starts to drop. Silly fouls, and the players look as if they're becoming more panicked.

Then the goal goes in, and it's like, poo, now what? Today Forest were happy with a point, so there wasn't really a lot in the last 10 minutes. But in games like Peterborough, where the momentum swings massively, we manage to turn 3 points in to 0.

It needs to change if we want to stay up this year. If we could hold on to a lead, we'd have 14 points instead of 6, and we'd be in the third round of the cup. The margins are massive for such silly lapses in concentration.
