So the EFL have felt the need to come out and address that no decision has been taken and the parties are still in discussions. So begs the question who is the leak.

Someone within the EFL going rogue?

Mel or Stephen Pearce? Unlikely unless it’s getting it out there to make a lesser punishment more palatable.

Rival clubs? - Most likely, getting out there to build the pressure, trial by media convince everyone without releasing facts our crimes are worthy of 9 points to back the EFL into a corner, while destabilising Derby and also give them something to create a stink if the punishment comes back lower.

It was an odd story. To fight it for 2 years nearly to then accept 12 points 9 now and 3 in the bank.

Even if we dont accept it and it goes to the commission i cant see it being any more. In fact itll probably be more like 6. Which i could cope with ? perhaps thats the case Derby are putting forward and if they offer 6 we will accept. Obviously all conjecture tho

not just that.

the club having adopted a unique amortisation policy that they claim gives them no advantage, why do it then?

In my opinion:

If it's 6 points we'll stay up

If it's 9 points it will be very close

If it's 12 points we're relegated

The problem with anything more than 6 points is that it makes us favourites for relegation and therefore makes us even less attractive to potential new recruits - which makes us bigger favourites for relegastion, etc, etc.....

The EFL seem detemined to drag this out as long as they can - which fits with their 'disappointed' comments when we were given a fine rather than a points deduction - they wanted/want to relegate us to placate Gibson and Wycombe. If they can't do it under the published penalties they will do it by crippling our ability to function and dragging this out as long as they can - it's pathetic and goes completely against their stated aim of protecting clubs, but those are the people we're dealing with....

Please can we just stop speculation about the size of the penalty, it is getting very boring and for those that jump to conclusions based on tweets, Facebook and Red-top rags can you just take a step back and have a long hard look at yourselves, even if eventually we end up with 9 or 12 points, stressing about it in advance doesn't do you any good, commenting about it as fact when the EFL haven't made a press release makes you look foolish at best.

The reality is, if it was a clear breach we wouldn't be in discussion,  it's disappointing that it is dragging on and restrictions are in place, but let's be honest,  what we've seen on the pitch has been ok, the attitude is good, the management are showing signs of improvement and the players are clearly on board with them and generally the quality has been better.

I'm sorry, but no. We are supposed to just sit in silence and pretend none of it is happening? If fans want to discuss it that's up to them. If you aren't interested in reading it that's up to you.

In short, the EFL have no legal case to dock any points and will procrastinate on a decision for as long as possible to give them some sense of a victory.

If their 'review' of the accounts goes on until the new year, I would say we have a legal case ourselves against the EFL for preventing us from operating as a business.

Outrageous behaviour from this spiteful, callous, vindictive organisation.

Absolutely it already has and will continue to do so the longer it goes on.

Possibly done us a few favours as well - those lads who went to ipswich are not doing much currently - we are playing as a team and the supporters are doing just that, supporting the team - we aren’t wasting any money currently either! - just need the manager to get his man United mate to lend us a proper goal scorer in January at no cost - as Kevin Keegan once said - I would just love that!

So nothing confirmed yet at all.

The only detail that I hadn't picked up from my quick perusal of regulation 85 is that there is no time-limit for the process which seems a disgrace..... If that's the structure of the rule then you should be innocent and allowed to continue until the process is concluded.

It's absurd that the EFL have the right to impose sanctions whilst they allow themselves unfettered time to undertake their reviews.

Every step that the club has to go through is time - boxed.

Grrrr.....

Not stressing about it (worse stuff going on in the world) but seems reasonable to discuss/debate on here for those that want to. What’s a forum for?
