Gritstone Ram
Just wondering if any legal people could answer this because if it isn’t it should be and I want to make a case to get it made illegal. It is the one worst thing anyone could experience broken bones can mend but mentally people don’t. B4ev6is and Coneheadjohn 1

I fully agree with you very very few people know this I was badly bullied at school due to my learning differcults and because I had autism but back then it was not known because I did not know rules of play ground I was beat up in school and out of school to such a point that I wanted to end my own life. Only when I told my mum she cried when I said this and was angry at person who did this and for many many years it took to get over it but to this day I dont trust anyone anymore I know sad to hear but dammage done to me and only those ones who suffered it truly understand. I know but is this illegal? Is there a law against it? I know you can get someone done for harassment and the police will take it seriously but there needs to be a bullying law. Gritstone Ram
I never new much about bullying. I may have taken the odd derogatory comments off people and had a few fights but I would always stick up for myself. However I have seen some bullying in the work place that has effected people’s mental health. I just wondered if there is a criminal offense here or is this civil. This is criminal and if it isn’t the law needs to change. Boris needs to know.

I will look into things because if this is written into law it may cut some of this out. This behavior is horrendous. How can anyone get away with it. I am now an official anti bullying campaigner. Mostyn6
I’m due to leave my current job in the next couple of weeks due to bullying. Not of the physical type, and the perpetrators are a couple of harmless looking, but very spiteful and vicious women. A totally new experience for me, where I’ve had to take a moral high ground, not react and just remove myself cos I can’t be bothered to fight it. Life is too short. Ramslad1992
I don’t actually know but I’d imagine not. Whilst not necessarily bullying if you physically hurt someone with intent that is of course illegal. I was bullied at school for being tall ?♂️ The difference between then and now was social media. Kids who are bullied at school these days tend to get bullied at home through Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc. I can’t see how it could be made illegal though as it’s very much opinionated to the individual. There’s no definitive line?

Bullying is a wide term, I assume you are not implying that is manifesting in a physical way? If it has, then almost certainly it's against the law. There are laws against hate speech, sexual harassment etc, so even some verbal bullying could stray into the criminal arena. If it's just work mates saying someone is rubbish at their job etc, then let the company deal with it.

It is how it makes people feel and the mental health problems it causes that is more of the problem. It is causing PTSD. Angry Ram

This may be controversial and unpopular, but when it comes to workplace bullying, women are far more adept at it then men. Talking from experience, both experienced and relayed, women seem much smarter in execution and more deliberate than men. The only thing I don’t think it says because the person is either jealous or wants to purposely inflict misery or effect their state of mental health because that is a major issue. Although malicious complaints could be a good one. Edited July 21, 2021 by Gritstone Ram
David
Bullying is illegal, but the chances of you getting any kind of conviction I imagine would be difficult unless you had concrete evidence of physical assault or harassment by text, email as part of the bullying. You would be looking at some kind of restraining order being given as the starting point, but if this is a colleague at work that could be difficult. You would expect the employer to sack them though if a conviction was made in court. Personally I would first report it to senior management, if nothing came from that I would leave as soon as possible before reporting to the Police. You have to ask, will it be worth the time and hassle to go through a court case, dealing with lawyers and all that. Life is far too short to waste, and even shorter if you load yourself with stress. The fact that not a lot can be proved or it will take so long shouldn’t be a reason not to do it. This is why it is so wrong because if anyone has been through it they are usually just relieved when it is over and just want things back to normal.
