110 positive cases now which is athletes and games staff/officials.

Feels like they are forcing this through. If the numbers continue to rise, there has to be a real risk that they won’t be able to see the Olympics through to the end.

Does Eric the eel still swim?  He could get a medal if everyone else tests positive for covid ?

I watched a bit this morning. One of our scouse boxers lost to an ancient Thai.

And our judo bloke was beaten when the opponent did something that was described as a "wazzer-harry" on him.....?

It's an omen....

Wazza-Harry - O.M.G. we're bringing back Redknap as a mentor for Rooney!

So nothing much happening on Derby front. Are people looking forward to the Olympics? Dont care? Or just certain sports? Are any of Olympic team from Derby or with east Mids connections other than Adam Peaty that we can follow? Seems odd this year as little build up really, it is difficult to feel excited. sSorry if already a thread - couldnt see one

Adam Peaty - Trained in Repton

Shona Mclaughlin- GB Hockey - Repton pupil

Leah Wilkinson- GB hockey - Repton pupil

Great effort from Georgia Taylor-Brown in the triathlon just now. Conditions were awful with the dregs of a typhoon going through early on, meaning the course was treacherous and five of them got away on the bikes. Because of the difficulty, the bigger chasing pack had no chance of catching them so the medals were likely going to be between these five including two Brits, Taylor-Brown and Jess Learmonth.

Then disaster! Taylor-Brown got a flat back tyre and had to ride the final 2km on that in the terrible conditions, so expended huge extra energy to only lose half a minute on the leading four. She was brilliant and hauled herself back through them on the run, getting second place comfortably but had started out too far behind the excellent Bermudan Flora Duffy who struck gold.

Apparently there's a mixed triathlon relay later in the week and given our strength in men's and women's, I'd expect us to win gold in that.

I’ve been watching a bit of the Olympics, but I am somewhat confused, skateboarding, surfing and what’s with getting these horses to hop trot like they are in the queue for the toilet?

Can’t be good for the horses travelling from UK to Tokyo either unless they are in a lasagne.

They even had baseball on the other night, isn’t that only really played by one country?

Rugby 7’s was entertaining with the GB v US scoreline and the Argentinians ending up with 5 as they won, but it’s a bit like 5 a side football.

Feel like we’ll have gardening in the Olympics in a few years, anything gets in these days.
