All won the European Cup,  League Championship etc and were all  has beens, failures,  trouble makers or never will be's...

Shall we just play nice and wait until a dozen games in before writing all of these newbies off ??

Not what any of us want, but it’s where we are now. Sad we are now shopping in the middle isle of Aldi, hopefully we can get the equivalent of a decent cheap battery drill.

Can’t we get Messy and Ronoldo from Aldi and they be almost as good as the real thing but cheaper.

I'd definitely put these, and all our trialists in fairness, firmly in the "worth a look" category.

The thing about having so few senior pros is we can bring a lot of free agents in for a closer look. If the coaching staff don't like the looks they'll get a polite "thanks but no thanks". But like a few have said look at CKR, none of us really wanted him but the staff watched him train for a few weeks and knew he could do a job.

None of these are the promotion push players we're used to being after, but does anyone think we're honestly aiming for anything beyond staying up, ideally drama free?

Baldock would be worth a go. A hard working irritant of a forward in a similar vein to Gregory, Weimann etc. His career numbers aren't too bad by any stretch and he's played for some decent sides at this level.

Folks love a good whinge for whinging sake. It's pretty clear that the type of player we are looking at now is 100 % relative to the situation we currently find ourselves in.

The only immediate priority is to simply form a squad capable of competing in the Championship next season.

With all of the overriding factors and restrictions impeding our potential transfer movement (self inflicted or otherwise), what else is realistically expected?

Get over yourselves people,  hoik your panties out of that big wad. We are where we are and until the EFL release that grip on our throat and let us back down to the ground there is sweet F.A. we can do about it. This transfer window is about getting in who we can to try and steady the ship. We can only try to do what we are "allowed " to do by the Dictatorship. They have us by the short and curlies and are mightily peed off they cant do more. So we can't sign Messi or whoever.......nowt we can do about only plan for if things relax. I suspect that will not come before a takeover. Why all the bile and venting of spleens ? Do you not think those in charge feel as hamstrung as us ?

This post should receive an award for the record number of anatomical references in one paragraph.

Even with the Royals’ shortage of wingers last term, Aluko was barely used by Veljko Paunovic and the only real chance Sam Baldock managed to get was when Lucas Joao and George Puscas were both out injured.

A reading fan comments "Aluko still has something to offer but baldock is not a championship player. All I can say is Derby must be in a very dark place."

And "Tell you what Aluko might not be a bad signing for them if he’s on 10k a week looked decent last season when he came on. As for baldock wouldnt want him if he was on a tenner"
