Wayne Rooney’s Derby set to offer Phil Jagielka contract on free transfer with 38-year-old training with crisis-hit club

Good bit of Sunspeak there: "Wayne Rooney's Derby" and "crisis-hit club" in one sentence.

Sad on both counts…

We can call him Jagga. They're about the same age.

Actually, if you imagine a back three of Davies, Jagielka and Mengi, you would lose very little in the air, you would have two great organisers of the younger players and Mengi's pace to cover behind them.

That's of course if they can stay fit.

You could afford to let Byrne and Buchanan press on and you would need Knight and Shinnie to protect them against deep runners, but if we can find the right front three, it might be a solid team.

We rarely looked like getting hammered last year. We had quite a lot of possession. We just had nothing up front.

That's our priority area.

The guys we have are good subs but not sufficient goal threats.

Get them in to train and see how they do, absolutely no harm in doing this at all. Will give us numbers for preseason amd buy a little time to see where we are at with a takeover.

Last summer id imagine the main targets relied on a takeover but because it didnt happen we got CKR on a free but had him in training with the team whilst we waited.

I do think fans need to realise what sort of players we're going to be in the market for this summer especially whilst no takeover is done and an embargo is in place.

We will have to make do and whoever comes in give them our full support, whats the point in moaning about them, it helps nobody.

I would hope we will all get behind the team and cheer them on whoever plays but trying to get excited about signing a 38 year old defender who has seen better days isn’t easy. Difficult to be too enthusiastic ?

Remember Warnock never used to have a keeper on the bench at Sheff u as Jagielka was good enough to be the back up apparently.

cost efficient and means we only need one goalkeeper on the books. ?

Oh and he’s old as duck... it’s the Derby way!
