The 1st rule of the corona virus thread is we don’t talk about the corona virus thread in another thread

Tell that to Gove. Also, most places I've been in the last couple of weeks (Albert Hotel, Albert Micro Bar, Yates's, Grosvenor Casino and Gala Casino in Blackpool plus Derbyshire CCC) require check-in via the NHS QR code.

No check-in, no get in.

Hospitality venues are still required by law.

However, if all restrictions are being lifted I assume that mandatory use of the NHS app is included in that.

Still messing around?

You are aware that the UK has vaccinated at a faster rate than the US.

Really? Because I don’t know one person who lives over here over the age of 13 who isnt fully vaccinated and as a 50 year old I have been fully vaccinated since February... and my 80 year old father who lives in England hadn’t even had his first by then.

There's absolutely no way that all restrictions will be lifted in a couple of weeks. It would be the absolute height of stupidity given the current 'surge'. As a minimum, I would suspect that if one restriction only is to remain, then it would be NHS T&T.

Surge? lol. Stop looking at cases and scaring yourself!

Anyway, yep, I'll be there, but I suspect we will be 50% in August. Agree it'll be season tickets only but nightmare for Derby to reseat people!

I'm not in the least bit scared or worried - it's just that I fully understand words like 'surge'.

'Surge' is defined as a 'sudden increase or upward movement'. I would suggest that an increase of 60% of the number of cases in one week could be classified as a sudden increase or upward movement by any definition.

Personally, I would like to think that things will open up fully. I also realise that, if a proportion of the population WON'T vaccinate (as opposed to those who CAN'T), then this is going to lead to some serious moral dilemmas downstream. Do we - or should we - protect those who cannot protect themselves? I think the answer to that one is obvious. But should we protect those who seemingly don't want to protect themselves? That's not my call, thankfully.

That’s not even a debate - whilst its a choice to jab or not, don’t even dare suggest (not you, the Gov) that we should protect those who don’t want to. Also - those that don’t want to I’m pretty sure don’t want any protection either.

Most cases are in the younger demographics now, the very few who go to hospital (about 80 from 4000 cases now end up going in) come out much quicker. There is no surge in hospital cases or deaths. These are relatively flat lined and in reality, I think will stay flat lined for years.

Whilst people, media, politicians and failed models look at cases every day, we won’t move on.

If we honestly didn’t talk about it, didn’t report every variant (90 world cases of Vietnam variant around the world!!!), and actually got back to reporting other issues, then people would get back to normal very quickly.

If we hadn't talked about it or hadn't done anything about it 16 months ago, a million more would have died in the UK alone. Heads and sand don't mix.

At the cricket, the capacity is around 20%, you have a temperature check as you enter, you can't move between seats, nevermind stands, indoor toilets aren't open and stands with a roof have 2 spare seats between used ones.

There is no way we will go from that to a free for all on Juje 21st.

I would be amazed if that date isn't pushed back 2 weeks.

After 2 cancelations, finally got to see a live West end show last night the wife had booked yonks ago. I am not really a fan tbh, rest of the family is, so i get dragged along to those things usually. Duck me it felt good to be out, drink before, seeing people, seeing a live performance, the joy/relief on the faces of talented people performing. Loved it. Really hope when they reopen PP it feels the same.
