Two weaknesses with the argument

- they haven’t yet done "it" despite operating the system for some years

- their "way" may have been completely scuppered by a combination of brexit and priti patels "foreigners not welcome, I is Essex innit" policies which makes it v difficult on the face of it to bring in promising unproven youth.

But let us see how they do.

Personally don't mind either club so good luck chaps to both.

New stadium tick, Operating within FFP tick, succesful recruitment tick, sell players at vast profit tick, PL tIck. You are hard man to please. I'd settle for less personally

It has but their trajectory has been on an upward curve for years. They are very well run, dumped the academy early doors and installed a focused recruitment policy that works.

Honestly, the first thing that came to mind was Nigel Clough

Yet nowadays that recruitment policy wouldn’t really work anymore as they couldn’t bring in most of the players they have used from all over Europe

Maybe but not really relevant.. They used what was available to them at the time and made it work. Nothing stands still and things have to evolve, unless of course you are Derby and we never seem to.

The right team won on the day. Swansea's starting tactics were wrong, especially the "rough them up" approach, and they only got into the game when they switched to 4-3-3. The red card was a little harsh, but they guy who got a yellow should have had a red, so it all worked out ok in the end.

In the end the team that has consistently played football, which I suspect is appropriate for a football team, got promoted, and have left the cloggers and hoofers behind. Well done, Brentford!

So Brentford are now in the PL and have done it without any parachute payments.

We should take heart from that because it shows that it CAN still be done.

I think we can also agree that they did it by being positive, skilful and forward thinking on the pitch all season rather than, erm, the Barnsley way LOL.

A breath of fresh air for the PL rather than the usual YoYo suspects with their tiresome senses of entitlement (Fulham, Norwich, West Brom - yawn).

Whoever does their recruitment should also be congratulated because they clearly got something right somewhere.

Josefzoon must be feeling sick as the proverbial parrot now.

So now we need to 'bee' like Brentford...

One of my best mates is a Brentford fan and I couldn't be more chuffed for you all. A model club who had a plan and saw it through. I reckon you'll ruffle a few feathers next year. Staying up will be tough, but you'll surprise a few teams along the way.
