Reasons why it has gone wrong.

Stupid question - if it's all so easy for the layman to pinpoint where it all went wrong then why did it ?

Because anyone can stand back from a situation and pick faults about what has gone wrong. Being the one who is accountable and making decisions is a far harder task.

Mel's made lots of decisions that have not turned out well. A lot of them had popular support when he made them.

But his decisions have a huge amount of focus and consequence, unlike the comments of anonymous posters on here.

I hear what you're saying but this is a football club not a political party - the owner leads the club in a responsible manner not one to garner plaudits or populist accolades - it's a position of huge responsibility so I find the comment about popular support misleading and unhelpful and to a degree irrelevant - did Morris take a poll of all supporters for example when he appointed each manager? And so on.

Morris has made a lot of decisions which haven't turned out well yes precisely and this is the compelling fact in all of this debacle.

What was the worst single decision of the Mel Morris era? Giving Clement a blank cheque book in his first transfer window? Firing Clement despite being in the playoffs with no replacement lined up? Hiring Mac again? Firing Mac again?

Why, in the midst of a spending spree costing £25,000,000 in transfer fees and adding £17,000,000 to the wage bill, can Callum (then 19) but paid ducking professionals can’t?

The club has run by ducking idiots for ducking years now. A ducking nineteen year-old could see how disastrous that spending spree was going to be.

The Pride book suggests Clement came in with a list of targets and the club handed him an entirely different list of transfers to pick from.

The way that the Bradley Johnson transfer was handled makes me believe the former to be true.

It’s because we have workmen, not footballers. We have very little guile and no pace. We have to grind teams - and we are just not good enough at that. If Lawrence, Bielik and Ibe had been available all season, and Sibley didn’t lose his mojo - it would have been a different story.

This season, in three words.....................................Krystian Bielik injury

Yep. That’s basically it (for this season anyway). We’d be safely in mid table now if he stayed fit.

But Clement had us top around Christmas time after that spending spree right? What happened with Clement is something of a mystery, but we were on track for promotion for a while.

If we had gone up, I don't think your 19 year old self would have been forever criticised and derided for years after getting your comment on twitter so very wrong.

That wasn't the first time we were 'on track' only to have it fade away. The league doesn't end at Christmas.

The risks taken weren't necessary nor worth the gamble - that's not hindsight it's just financial accounting. If you gamble your finances on a bet that doesn't pay off you lose money.
