Marriott has scored NO goals in 13 games for the Wendies. Waghorn is utter pants (3 in 28) I'd rather we'd stuck with playing neither of them.

He’d fit in well then to our one win in 14 RoyMac...

No he's not - the Wendies wouldn't play him either, so their two managers wouldn't play him and are too thick? Lampard mostly wouldn't play him, Cocu either. I sense a pattern here. ?

On the field of play, I've liked what I've seen.

His first season was good, up until Christmas he was the striker and he was scoring at a good rate. Disappeared for a while, not sure why. Returned in the playoffs and we all know what happened there.

Cocu's football stifled him. I honestly just think he's a player who's had a lot of bad luck over the last couple of seasons.

Hopefully he can get his career back on track, I'd like that to be with us, but sadly I don't think it will be.

Even Marriott at 50% could still be useful in our squad currently, the problem is he won't fit into Wayne's hoofball so he'd be ineffective. With a player like Marriott you have to play football in a more sophisticated way to get the best out of him and our coaches aren't capable of that

Is he currently fit then, I didn't think so?

Of course, I may have entered the discussion late as usual, so I assumed they we being compared to who would’ve been more beneficial to our campaign.  Can’t be arsed to go back to read it all but if this was the case, I think a cardboard cutout of Marriott would’ve had my vote over Waghorn.

Ah that's it the grounds staff got it the wrong way around and put out the cardboard cutout of Waghorn!

If he'd come back in January he would have played a bit out of necessity, and I'd imagine would have got a couple. Could have made all the difference - Wednesday keeping him, playing or not, has helped them, by ensuring he doesn't score.

I don't think so. We don't create chances, and Marriott is pretty useless unless you cross the ball into the box a lot. He was rubbish last season under Cocu even when he had chances. Marriott is following the standard Derby player formula of going up in estimation when you're not here.

It's ludicrous.

We have a bloke with no coaching badges as manager, a TV pundit as assistant, a goalkeeper as set piece "specialist" and some other fella as goalkeeping coach.

Any experienced management team would have scraped enough points together from this final run of games to escape relegation.

What a sorry mess our club has become.

At least that betting company that pay our manger's wages will get plenty of exposure next Saturday.

We deserve everything that's coming to us.

See what I’ve done there for you Morgan, deflected all the poo you may have got by bringing up Marriott. Us Spondon boys must always stick together ?

Some further thoughts: As usual, my stomach fell to my boots when I saw that yet again Sibley was only on the bench, while yet again Waghorn was getting yet another chance to do nothing. What might have happened if we has someone who can drive forwards, shot on sight or run into the box and pick up the loose ball? Its not as thought playing two "centre forwards" up front paid off, because we actually only had the one, or maybe even about 3/4 of one.

Also, did you notice just after CKR had his chance which was blocked by the defender? He should have been really frustrated about that, but instead was actually smiling and chatting with the defender as thought it didn't matter. couple that with his almost total lack of celebration after scoring last match and I have to ask what is really going on.

What if the whole things id a gigantic setup to guarantee that it goes down to the wire on the last day. It will be a bumper day for Sky for viewing figures, won't it? It probably will be for the betting companies, such as Bet 32.

This is all in addition to what everybody has been saying throughout this thread, with pretty awesome consistency.

Well if I could I wouldn’t keep a single player currently playing they just don’t seem to have a single clue what to do and they are an embarrassment to the club awful from top to bottom relegation is so deserved and if something isn’t done would it be the first time we got relegated to the 4th tier because if you remember we only beat Barrow on penalties truly the worst group of players to ever put on a Derby shirt I can’t remember anything this bad

Yet Waghorn laid the ball off to Byrne to cross to Lawrence for the goal. Now if Marshall had played or Roos had not been standing in the goal for their first, that might have meant something.

That hat trick last year and all of the other goals must of been a trick of the light then

Yeah 6 goals in 34 games....and as you say 3 of them were in 1 game, so 3 goals in 33 games.... oooohhhh potent.!!
