This is a common theme. Put your money down then watch the fun with no input. Definition of gambling really. Takes a special personality to do that!

This philosophy can work and it did massively for Richard Branson with Virgin, but it demanded in the early years that all profits were ploughed back into the business. Not sure football works like that. More the reverse: To make a small fortune start with a large one and buy a football club!

Failing that, when you inherit a team of players who's best quality is to bomb forward with neat, intricate passing, don't appoint a manager (or managers), whose philosophy is to sit deep and hope to catch teams on the break......

Or managers who say that they will adapt their philosophy to the players at their disposal.
