After we've followed Johnson's roadmap and the country is fully reopened. Will we revert to living our lives to how it was before the pandemic or will change how we work and play?

How many businesses will carry on allowing their staff to work from home, will more people now carry on shopping on line or will they return to shopping in person.

We've missed participating in our favourite past times and the enjoyment it brings. We've missed meeting friends and family. Will the return of these things along with the more simple things like just sitting in the park watching the world go by, make us appreciate doing these activities more than we did previously.

Some will, others won't. Some will simply resent having been deprived of such things in the first place and that's all they will carry forward. Best not to worry too much, I think.

I think there are moments in history which make us re-evaluate the way we live our lives and help us appreciate how lucky we are. I’m thinking about things like Band Aid and 9/11.

The sad truth is that for a while we will be respectful of ourselves and those around us. Then the perils of pressure to succeed and consumerism will take over once more. In order to get back the money we have spent, employers will want more, more, more.

The planet will have enjoyed the lack of pollution but already we are flocking to book flights.

It won’t be long before we return to bad old ways. The one thing I think will change is a heightened awareness of infection and how it spreads.

I’m interested to see how easy it will be to socialise. We have been in this bubble for a year now. Will it be easy to be in a crowded bar or event? Will we have a natural aversion to close contact?

We are part of an incredible period in history and how we react to it will be fascinating.

Let's see if it all pans out that way first - I even surprise myself that I am willing to believe a roadmap rolled out by a man who has a rather fractious relationship with the truth.

I'm dreading the first goal back at a full PPS!

How the hell do we not hug and high-five our immediate neighbours!   ?

Maybe play a bit of Cocu-ball for a few weeks? That will give us chance to ease ourselves into the prospect.

Surely we’ll be allowed to do that if 33,000 people are allowed to be packed in next to each other?

I'm a great believer in doing what I am comfortable with*, not what I am told I am "allowed to do".
Why run the risk of hand shakes and man-hugs with people who are strangers in all but seat positions?

Yes... I did before, but some of us need to change some old habits.

*Natural reactions notwithstanding, of course!

Hey!  I Know!
How about we turn this thread into a political debate?

Perhaps just start with sneaky little innuendos, so the mods don't notice!  ?

Fair point - my comment wasn't meant as a dig, though I appreciate it probably was. It was more to say that we have all bought into this roadmap as hard line dates (including me). As we have seen in the past year, much happens to throw things off track so I was just making the broader point that booking flights and planning for who you will hug on June 22nd might still not be what actually transpires.

Totally agree.

Not sure they are "Hard line dates", as the term "No earlier than..." seemed to be used quite a lot, so anyone seeing them as hard line dates is a mere fool imo, and any misery thus caused could fairly be construed as "self-inflicted".

Anyway...

Big day today... ??

EDIT:
Just realised, not totally agree then!  Almost totally agree!   ?

I remember very early in the lockdown, I posted a link to an article about the aftermath of the Spanish Flu that said a huge amount of the population embraced hedonism in a big way. Orgies, drunken debauchery etc

At the time I thought it was funny, but now I'm very much in a HURRY UP AND GIVE ME THE ORGIES frame of mind

Just so long as you know, you will need a different type of face mask.

Something in leather, with studs should suffice

... so I hear!  ?

The Covid outbreak has just accelerated the natural move from shoppers spending their money in shops to online shopping and thats a trend that would have continued with or without Covid.

Working from home is an interesting one, the more enlightened employers will be happy to consider that ongoing for staff currently doing that I would imagine the other employees will view it as a control thing and expect their staff to turn up for work as it also would be seen as devisive for staff not being allowed and cause an amount of internal resentment.

Even from me an unnecessary sly jibe and not required.

The general question was a fair one worthy of discussion, one of the reasons even I avoid the Coronavirus thread on here as at the best of times it's point scoring and people butting heads without even trying to accept the other posters points of views.
