The only times I occasionally phoned in sick was when I was perfectly well and had something else planned. But thats another story... ? I think folk who lie to their employers and colleagues rather than just book a day's leave, yet whine about added workloads when other folk are off work sick, are the biggest piss takers myself ?♂️ ariotofmyown and i-Ram

jimmyp
I have a friend whom has a 14 year old son that has numerous medical conditions. Rules or no rules I’m going to continue wearing my mask in order to protect his vulnerability's as his own immune system is incapable. I guess if I didn’t socialise with someone with a vulnerability I might think about it differently. I know you're going to disagree, but I would like to think you are in a minority. If more people stopped off work for a couple of days when ill, the rest of the workplace would be much more productive, in my experience. Once had a boss who was very proud of not taking a day off work even when was sneezing all over the office. Seemed surprised when we all went down with flu. Sorry but feeling under the weather or a cold doesn’t warrant it in my opinion. I guess like everything else now a days we’ve just gone soft !!! So if you have the 'sniffles' but you want to be a hero, wear a mask. You are not doing your team/work mates a favour by infecting them, no matter how much of a stalwart you think you are, Captain Braveheart. Never wore a mask before if I had a cold and have never seen anybody else doing it. I didn’t see it causing too many issues if I’m honest. Also It looks like I will have the choice to attend football matches next season restriction free, so it’s all sunny and good imo Im not asking what your preference is, im asking whats the problem carrying on with precautions at this moment and leading into the summer holidays? ariotofmyown

I can get a beer when I want, have a chat at the local coffee shop, go to shops no fuss, have a bite to eat…and all we need to do is put a bit of sanitiser on and wear a mask where needed to. I mean, I can happily do these things for quite a bit longer. Maybe I’m not getting unnecessarily annoyed at stuff enough, but what’s the problem? I mean we’ve got to leave to live with it as we all like to keep saying. So in summary, you hate freedom! You should go and live in one of those authoritarian countries like, erm, Germany or South Korea and leave us freedom loving Brits to enjoy our freedom. maxjam
Oooh its like Brexit all over again - tight split in the voting; Personally I'm done with all the restrictions on the 19th, if other people want to thats completely fine but I've had enough ? Just wondering how you came to that conclusion? What @TuffLuffis describing doesn’t sound like anti freedom to me, just continuing with the minor inconvenience (for vast majority) of wearing a mask and using hand sanitizers for a little bit longer. Hardly the stuff of 1984. (Unless of course you were being sarcastic and went over my head). GboroRam
We're told that we're selfish and just want to remain in lockdown forever living the perfect furlough life, but asking people to wear a mask when they've got a cold now seems to be infringing people's freedom to cough on stuff. ariotofmyown

He was saying it's not proven in April last year. BMJ article from February this year: https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n432 "US researchers recently looked at the impact of state-wide mask requirements on new cases per 100 000 population per day from 1 January 2020 to 24 October 2020.10 They reported that, after adjusting for interstate differences, states that adopted mask requirements early saw the strongest effects on numbers of new cases when compared with those that did not adopt such measures. The effect was smaller but still “clearly protective” when comparing early adopter states to late adopters. “These analyses advance the scientific evidence showing positive impacts of state-wide mask requirements in the US,” the researchers concluded."
