What I find incredible about Depeche Mode is how Vince Clarke wrote most of the first album and a couple of singles, then left the band.

Amazingly, they just carried on without him churning out the hits.

TTF Vince left. Talented guy in has own right, but the band would not have varied much from Speak & Spell if he had stayed. Alan Wilder took them in a much better direction, and drugs nearly broke but ultimately preserved them. As @Gee SCREAMER !! says they are adored in America, but less so here.

Bruce Springsteen, Del Amitri, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden and Jackson Browne.

I always end up back with this lot. Something for every occasion!

Only support band I've seen where you knew they would be huge (their first uk gig).

Do you know what, there isn’t one one there I would choose but isn’t that what’s great about music?

Paul Weller for me - still turning out great stuff after 40 plus years. Seen him live a few times always good - got tickets for his gig in Oxford in November hopefully by then it will happen. His live stream from the Barbican in February has unfortunately been postponed

Remember one major miss from my list: The Broken Family Band. Listened them to death when I happened upon them at a festival about 10 years ago. Got tickets to see them a few months later to what turned out to be their farewell tour.

Difficult to know they didn't make it big. Perhaps they didn't want it enough! So many brilliant songs.
