The only reservation I have is that if he is successful here then he'll be off to a Premier League team soon as and we'll be back to having to find a replacement

...Or become a prem club ourselves...before that happens.

Chances are, that'll only leave 2 clubs that may be able to prise him away?

This is great news IMO.  Very interesting that it seems it's a joint decision between MM and Khaled. I know that may sound obvious but, ever Mr Positive, it says to me that things are still on - if Khaled was doing a runner then why would he bother to be involved in this.  If anything his appointment shows that there's a lot going on under the radar we simply don't see. I don't think for any moment it's a diversionary tactic.

WR's welcome speech is really positive and shows he's going into this 100%.  Why would he bother too, if we were as doomed as some in the media have been making out; surely someone like him would not want anything to do with a sinking ship? Great too his current team, plus Mac are all retained - I think consistency at the moment is really important.  I'm hopeful too that he'll continue to motivate the guys to ignore all the other cr4p going on.

I know some have called for a "seasoned" manager to come in and dig us out of this but I think WR has done a great job so far and just because someone else may be more "experienced" doesn't mean he'll have a positive impact on this team. Wazza seems to have the full support and buy-in of the dressing room and he seems to know what he wants, and what's needed, especially what's needed to win and the players have reacted to that.  Look at Allardyce at WBA, the so-called relegation specialist and some-one some wanted here.  What is it since he took over WBA, P5, L5? including losing to Blackpool in the FA Cup.

Let's get behind Wayne, be pleased at least some of the current rubbish and uncertainty has been put to bed, and look onwards, and upwards.

My only gripe is the length of the contract... if we'd appointed Rooney until the end of the season and see where we are then I'd have been more accepting.Way too long for a rookie.. Obviously some will disagree.

An admin shouldn't be provoking other members #davidout , just kidding don't ban me I apologise?

A non-executive member of the forum shouldn't be describing our revered and prodigious leader as mere "Admin".

Not kidding!  Not sorry!

Ban, I say.  Ban!

He’ll not be a rookie for the full 2 1/2 years. Start as a rookie and develop into a full grown allladyce

I guess there is a good chance he wouldn’t have accepted a contract only to the end of the year and who would blame him? He could probably have got a managerial job with a more secure outlook that five months at a club battling against relegation.

Well it's all speculation isn't it?

In the here and now it's a decent appointment, and the only logical one

Exactly so - why would he have accepted that? Was the logic paradox when he was first announced as temporary manager and the idea floated around on here. Same thinking was true of Big Sam - you might have wanted him for a relegation scrap but then want to bin him to build a more forward thinking team, but there was no way he would have had that!

Good luck to Wayne, and I'm happy that Mac is there alongside him (and Rosenior) to help them and the squad.

Hopefully there will be an upgrade in the scouting and recruiting capabilities at the club.

I now find my (50+years) of football prejudices and expectations utterly overturned; I now want Man Utd to win every game (so they don't poach a successful Rooney) and for Everton to push Liverpool down the Merseyside pecking order (so the Toffees don't poach a successful Rooney!)

Main thing, the on-field priority: GET SOME POINTS ON THE BOARD and stop p$$ng games away! We must gather points at greater than twice the current rate at least, to push away from the foot of the table, 55-60 points must be the target, players take heed!
