He is eligible for the cup game but is probably subject to self isolation if he was training with the squad up to the Covid outbreak. He will miss the Rotherham game as he is suspended. Millenniumram
Not good news that we’re going to have to play a load of kids - it’s a very unfortunate situation we find ourselves in, but what can you do? Seems fair enough to me to make teams play cup matches so long as they have enough available players. We’ve got to get these matches played for the good of the competition, and it won’t be fair on teams like Chorley if big games are just abandoned. Not postponing the game should help our fixture schedule too.

I have just checked the regulations again. Yellow cards are specific to the competition so a sending off for two yellows would not carry over to the FA Cup. However, a straight red, as in Waghorn's case, will carry over to the cup. Therefore, Waghorn is suspended for Saturday. My apologies.
OUTSIDER
am i the only one think this isnt a bad as it seems, win it will do young ones good and experiance. better than the first team may be beaten by lower league club
Anag Ram
I'm actually looking forward to the game more now than when I thought the first team was playing. I fear for our young defence but I'm hoping that without the encumbrance of first teamers they will re-find their form and team spirit.

The only consolation is it's now changed from a no win situation (we wouldn't have received any credit unless we'd beaten them comfortably) to a no lose situation (we're now probably expected to lose so, no disgrace unless it's by a cricket score). A cup run would have been nice (but unlikely, a distraction from our struggles, not the same if we can't attend and we still might have one). The only real downside is the loss of much needed income. I suppose in Rotherham’s case, the positive test came so close to the game they didn’t have time to get everyone out of training ground and then test them all again. If their youth teams train at same place then they will have needed to isolate all the players. In Derby’s case, all players have had several days isolating. If the club can get quick results on tests, they may be able to test all the players Fri night/Sat morning and then take the squad (assuming we have enough negative tests) would not be ideal but would at least give us the chance of having some experience in the squad. Not permitted. Even when tested they have to complete 10 days isolation I believe.
1of4
Who will we be able to put out on the pitch. A number of u23 and u18 players have been involved with the first team over the last few games. So which of the better junior players could also be having to isolate, as they may have been training with senior squad.

Agreed, though I’ll still be disappointed if we don’t win, even though we’re now the underdogs!

Which is the maddest thing of many mad things regarding Covid. What's the point of the country spending billions to develop a massive testing system if you can't use a negative result to let people get back to work rather than twiddling their thumbs in isolation for ten days?
