All 3 parties Derby..sheff wed...and most importantly Marriott have to agree to terminate the loan.

Not correct in this case, if it was a season long loan with no recall clause inserted has was Chris Martins then you would be.

From the official Dcfc site.

Marriott has linked up with Garry Monk’s Owls in a loan deal for the 2020/21 season, although the Rams hold the option to recall the player in the January Transfer Window.

He isnt good enough, if he was he wouldnt be out on loan or scored so few goals for us.

we need better, the mentality of settling for second best is plaguing us as a club

To be fair, he joined us under Lampard who did not use him straight away, stating he was not up to Championship standard fitness. When he did play, he very rarely started a match or complete a match and in 86 games for the Rams he has scored 17 goals. I doubt many of the 86 matches were 90 minute games for him. He has also been very unlucky with picking up injuries, which as not helped his progress since being at Derby. I doubt Sheffield Wednesday want him back, especially now with Pulis there. If Rooney rates him, he will ask for him back. Jack would probably say yes to coming back.

Jack his under contract until the summer of 2022, having signed an extension prior to going on loan. Latest news is that, he's back training on grass and could be playing in about 3 weeks time. At 26 this could be his last chance to prove his worth of being a quality striker. I hope he does come good, which means he will be scoring goals for us. I agree with other comments, that it would be down to him, but also with a little bit of luck. That luck is also needed by Derby, so all remains to be seen in the next 4-5 weeks.

Thats what i thought.  Think the weird scenario was they paid a season fee of 3 million as a down payment toward a six million fee to see if it suited all parties.  The fee was partly refunded if he came back in January, but Fulham had to agree the return, we couldn't recall him.

I think with us coming out and saying we are open to offers the other day screams he wants out and a fresh start elsewhere.

Think it also screams that the club are fully aware he is out of contract this summer and are desperate to get any money back on him that they can.

He had one year extension before going on loan.

So we all thought.

What's all this then?!

DCFC website: First-team players out of contract beyond summer of 2021 and in discussions about their futures: Andre Wisdom, Martyn Waghorn, Jack Marriott, Curtis Davies, Henrich Ravas.

In the case of Jack Marriott, the club previously communicated that the player’s contract had been extended until the summer of 2022. The registration approval was subsequently withdrawn by the EFL in December and the club has been in discussion with the player’s representatives and the EFL since January.

Well we don't know and never will so we just have to speculate.

It could be that Jack didn't sign the contract properly or the EFL's procedures weren't followed or the contract didn't arrive on time; it might be some obscure element of the embargo rules that we were (or weren't) aware of; perhaps Jack is claiming that he entered into it unwillingly; maybe the club are claiming his representatives pulled a fast one on us; perhaps the EFL have it in for us and want to make life even harder for us.  Who knows?  They do and we don't.

What's more interesting is that DCFC, Jack and the EFL have been in discussions since January.  That suggests a dispute of some sort but between who (us v Jack; us and Jack v the EFL; EFL v Jack; EFL v the club) is not clear.

No doubt we'll learn the outcome in due course
