Derby finding new and inventive ways to ruin Christmas since 1884.

Worst part? Preston were awful. Deserved nothing. Barely an attack in anger in 70 mins against 10 men. Waghorn should be ashamed and shouldn’t be involved for the foreseeable - he’s not indispensable enough to need him.

How many times has it been said on here that the opposition were awful .... after a defeat ?

Not using today as an example because a stupid decision and an inept ref has really cost us

but it’s an ongoing recurring theme

table doesn’t lie

Let's not get too disheartened thought we played very well with ten men and deserved a draw just our luck at the minute

Absolutely. We’re looking a good unit. Add a bit of class up top and can see us beating a lot of teams. Onwards ...?

The key thing now is the reaction. Rooney has done brilliantly so far and that defeat wasn't his fault. But it will take some management skills to stop that denting confidence and the squad's energy levels. This is the point where it's safer to have an experienced manager. Rooney could easily get this wrong and return us to the previous downward spiral. If he doesn't, I'd suggest that Rooney will go on to be a superb manager.

So, between Waghorn getting sent off and the ref's somewhat irritating decisions at the end, it's Shinnie's fault. Ok. You do you.

Look where he is on that side when they came into the box and tell me where he should have been. OK? You do you too mate! ?

We lost that by a stupid, concrete-for-brains challenge and a crap referee. We always get crap refs, which leaves us to cut out the stupid red card. Sadly it is likely that Lawrence will be back. We’ve done good without him, and he too is a red card waiting to happen.

Re the poor defending for the goal: of the ref had given a free kick for the foul on Sibley, the attack would never have happened and we wouldn’t have been a man short in defence as a result of the foul.

And it wasn’t just that foul, or the Fergie time, it was the almost incessant flow of fouls by Preston which he failed to give, Knight wrestled to the ground on the touch line, Tichards wrestled by two players at once not given, Richards running through midfield into position gets blocked off and Bond plays advantage to Preston, and so it went on.

Rooney gave him hell after the match - Good man, Wayne.

AND YES. IT IS DAVE HAVING A RANT AT THE REF AGAIN.

DAMM RIGHT IT IS. GOOD JOB I’M NOT IN THE STAFF CAR PARK!????????????????????????????????????????????????

Just about calmed down after that last minute kick in the teeth. So disappointing to lose  to such a poor side (and ref), but plenty of positives to take away for the Brum game. Fortunately other results went our way today so at least we have not lost much ground. Lets show the same desire and we'll pick up three points on Tuesday. UTR

Painful one that, given the effort we put in second half. Shocking refereeing performance was the final nail in the coffin, but idiocy by Waghorn cost us that match ultimately. We’d have won that game with 11 men, yet here we are with nothing instead, and still in the relegation zone. Very disappointing to see all that work we put in defensively second half to keep Preston at bay go to waste. We did so well with 10 men to hang on until the very end, damn you Darren Bond!

Another home loss with no goals though, which isn’t good news, despite the mitigating circumstances. Leaves us in the relegation zone having played a game more than Rotherham. We’re still very much in a big fight for survival, anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

I’m not so certain that it’s going to be such a sucker-punch. The players will feel they lost because of injustice rather than any particular mistakes they made, which could be motivating.

We should be able to rely on competent refs. That is one of the basic things we should expect and demand.

In an ideal world yes but we’re not naive enough to think that’s the case. We won’t get any favours from those useless bar stewards in the middle.

You've been on the booze? #joker

Yes i have been on the booze but you most of been on something alot stronger, we was beating them in the wide areas but then we went central and killed us! We played like we were gonna play big boat but still passed it out!  Should of kept it the same for at least 10 minutes into the 2nd half

Here’s hoping it doesn’t knock the wind out the sails because we can still go and win 2/3 of the next 3 games and sit pretty a good 5/6 points about the relegation zone. With a game in hand.

We are still so much more resolute at defending.

Love Knight - build his statue now - but he needs to play centrally. His end product really lets him down when it comes to being out wide.

That was dog poo referring, a clear free kick. Either way boot it away.  Preston are awful.  Our bench today tells me a lot- Ingram had one job to do and that's hold the ball for the last few minutes and was was beaten twice- bloke invites pressure.  Ibe may as well stay at home, if he doesn't get game time today, getting 45 minutes out of him will be rarer than the second coming of Christ.

It's not about favours, it was almost comical levels of bad refereeing at times. The standard of English refereeing is embarrassing.
