You arent conflicted about it at all..? That we are going to be selling our souls, potentially changing the club identity to someone who has got his wealth from goodness knows where in a country where it is illegal for women to have their arms exposed or for anyone to "cross dress", where same sex marriages are not recognised as it is illegal to be gay....and anyone can be arrested for kissing in public...?

Not much different to this country 30 or so years ago then

You don't have to have 2bn to offer 2bn. This guy is not that rich. Have a look at his web site, it's a stroke job.

Ah right, so I can go and offer 700mill for everton then, doesn't matter if i don't have the money then ?

"The report goes on to say he was ready with a £2billion valuation - taking on a minority Chinese investor and more money from a hedge fund."

The above is regarding the Liverpool bid. Doesn't mean those same investors cant also be involved this time (and he only needs £60 mill for us), but it wasnt all his own money involved in the scouse bid. He also can't do that much to improve us from a financial perspective whilst we are in the EFL.

He has made mistakes in the past and he definitely isn't infallible. There could be all kinds of factors involved with the sale we don't know about. Mel could be desperate for cash and doesn't care who it is as long as they pay him. These new owners also aren't going to say to his face that they are only here to asset strip the club and wipe it from existence. There is always a risk with stuff like this - nobody can know for certain that this takeover will be a positive for us. (I'm fully on board the Abu Dhabi bandwagon though)

thats true, my point is you don't offer 2bn for something if you don't have access to those funds, whether it's his own wealth or someone elses. Most billionaire businessmen don't use their own money.

It doesn't half feel that we are treading water this weekend...waiting on the deal to go through, waiting on Cocus future....

We’ve come this far, a few more days will be a breeze.

Remember the A52 bridge wasn’t built in a day!

There are definitely some rose tinted specs here. We have had two lots of mac and still in champ, why would a third dose suddenly make the difference.

Wasn’t tinted spectacles the season we lost to QPR. We were the best team in the division by far during the period he was Manager. If he had of been in charge at the start of that season we would have won the league ?

I probably wouldn't go back for Mac. Too much baggage and a few doubts over his management on a longer scale.

With that said there is some logic to it. Both times he took over there was an almost immediate bounce in results and more than anything that's perhaps what we need, that injection of confidence.

Also id contend the squad is in similar, if not better shape than he first took over. I.e. a tight squad with a bunch of talented young players with a sprinkle of experience, that has been built to play a passing game. It's not terribly difficult to imagine a scenario where he takes over and takes on a hot streak for a while.
