I'm for leaving it as it is, I like what I see, something I haven't been able to say for several years now.  We never knew the relative mix in the Smith/McLaren days and I have a gut feeling this is the same blend; the tactical specialist (albeit in the stands) and someone who then projects the doctrine (with undeniable footballing credentials) on the pitch side.

Is this far removed from Mclarens first managerial time here, he always spent the first half up in the stands.

Remind me? what were Dave Mackays creds?...

Just my humble opie......

At first I confess I was sceptical at the proposition of Rooney as manager. However I like what I’m seeing on the pitch both in terms of our style of play and the attitude of the players. He’s done that, admittedly with assistance but the fact that he seems to be open to listening to others suggests a maturity and willingness to learn that is reassuring.
Of course, I could be talking through a part of my body best left to more basic functions but as things stand I reckon he’s earnt a crack at the job.

Just give it to Wayne until the end of season and that after the takeover, otherwise leave it as it is for now. The improvement has exceeded my expectations in the footballing style, commitment, organisation and fitness. They look like an established team with a clear pattern of play that will work in this division.

At the point in time when money flows to purchase new players to strengthen the team, I can see Rooney not just not losing but winning a lot more matches.

The club requires at least one top quality new striker, someone capable of 20 goals in a season

Still unbeaten under Rooney.

Could any other incoming manager have achieved what Rooney has. The play against Swansea was pretty much unachievable in the time frame that he has been in charge. Totally different mindset in the Club. Rooney exudes a feeling that he fully expects to succeed in this job without makeup Ng any rash promised. He utter the phrase about 'getting Derby back where they belong'. If he wants his next Club to be a top six side he probably needs to get us promoted, although Frank did it by getting us to the play offs. He inspires confidence in me. I was so disappointed that the Rotherham game was not played. His profile ensures media attention and will surely attract players who want to play for him. It helps that his three man team are familiar with the players so we are not starting from scratch. Would have been nice to have been out of the bottom three for Xmad. COYR. This forum has been brilliant during Covid, David. Thank you.

6 games ago I would have said NO. Now, the performances on the pitch are hugely improved so maybe we should let him and Rosenior (and Given) carry on at least until the end of this season ?

yes and SM as well. But will WR want his own coaching team if he is appointed as manager for any period?? I would like to keep the existing team

giving rooney the job off the back of 6 games would be a mistake. I still think we need to see how this next batch of games go against teams around us and see how we end up going. Pretending Rooney is the new messiah because he got us into some good form is quite a mistake to make... remember Mac 2? or Darren Wassall? or how many interim managers at how many clubs who have started well but the form quickly dissipates. I'd still at this moment prefer experience.

Didn’t we go for experience with Pearson ? ?
Not sure , Paul Cook excepted if there are any experienced managers available currently. As we all know there are no guarantees whoever we appoint.
Me think I’d be tempted to stick with Wayne and Liam for a while

Newsflash. A new green mineral from a 220 year old sample mined in Cornwall has been discovered. It is now called Kernowite. Kernow is the old name for Cornwall. Previous last mineral discovered was Tanzanite, I think. Kernow, you are famous at last. This is TRUE. Kernow....what a mineral. Is this in the right thread. COYR.

We appointed a manager who had a style completely antithetical to the one we were playing... Pearson was always going to be a risk for that reason and his infamous temper that gets away from him. If we'd stuck with him for more than 12 games or so it might have worked out but we'll never know. Just because Pearson did not work out does not invalidate the argument we should be looking ideally for someone with more experience than wayne rooney to manage the club.

Don’t necessarily disagree but with Colin , Allardyce and Pulis  all in gainful employment no one apart from Cook springs to mind.

Still no for me.

6 points from 5 reasonable looking home games is an underwhelming return.

The Swansea win was a fantastic performance, but to not win any of the other four games is disappointing, especially having been in a position to pick up 5-7 more points on balance.

That said, Rooney will get more time to make his mark, with today the start of three games in less than a week, with no sign of the takeover being completed and no sign of other potential managers being lined up.

I think the next two games will decide Rooney’s long term future at the club.

Two wins and it will be practically impossible to deny Rooney the job.

step 1 stop the rot

sort of achieved

step 2 start scoring goals

not achieved yet

keep him on but the improvement needs to continue, 5 goals in 9 games is not good enough. winnable games are running out

next 3 games we have to win at least 2 and start scoring.
