Cocu ranked against other Rams bosses

Recommended Posts

Two points for me.

1: Interesting to see how many of our recent managers are near the top of the list. One thing that a decade in the Championship has done for us is allow us - up to now - to win most of our games.

2: Arthur's record is pretty impressive, I know a fair chunk of that was the rise from the bottom but given we only spent one season in the old second division that is a pretty impressive return in over 450 games

I wanna hear again how Mac failed either times. Pretty hilarious.

Success in this league is measured by Promotion for a team Derby's size , ending up in the top 6 every season and losing in the playoffs is not good enough , it just gives you a chance which you have to take

Interesting that we don't have many with over 100 games in charge (and 3 of those were only a few games past that mark). Shows the constant chopping and changing we have had over the years. Part of the problem or just symptomatic of football?

I suppose that the more successful managers (i.e. Sir Alex and Wenger) stay in the job a long time, probably because they are successful!)

The trouble with these sorts of comparisons is that success is relative to the squad you have at the time. That list isn’t the Derby managers in order of success, it’s the Derby managers in terms of “enjoyment” I suppose, if winning games is the main parameter for enjoying a football match.

I mean Cocu definitely did better than some managers on that list. I’d say his first season was pretty successful given everything thrown at him. It’s just the start of his second season was a complete disaster, which puts him further down the list.

And a lot of fans instantly dismiss the idea of Wassall...

Many people’s view probably formed from 1 game........... what we would give for 3 goals and a point at Rotherham now!

That said, I wouldn’t want to lose Walsall from the Academy.......he’s obviously doing a lot right

By not scoring against QPR with few chances and that we failed to kick the ball away. Also for 2nd time around we have had injuries suspension etc which was Steve McClaren failed to stop poor runs etc. He failed twice.
