Is Eric Steele right saying Rooney has to play

Hope I’ve  not misquoted him but I have heard him say it on several occasions on RD .

Rooney needs to step back on playing if he wants to be manager as IMO he can’t do both .

Obviously he’s been a great player and he’s still good but he tends to slow us right down

Hasten to add this is my opinion as I want  Knight running at defenses fro midfield.

I made a comment about meeting Eric Steele back in the late 90s in another post

He,s a two faced hypocrite  and as done nothing to change my views on him

Can only reiterate he had the audacity to call Lionel Pickering

Wish recording phones were out then ?

I guess the question is,are we a better team with ROONEY in it ?.

I would say no.

Constantly shoe horning him into the side weakens us as a unit and slows us down.

5 or 10 years ago this obviously wouldn't be a conversation but then he wouldn't be here with the ability he used to have.

It looks like he can't do either at the moment never mind both

One of the arguments about Cocu was the build up was too slow.

One of the positive things though was Knight driving at defenses from midfield.

Now to be honest it’s early days in this management regime so let’s hope they can learn from mistakes fast.

I actually think all is not lost and they need to look at the game plan .

Come on you Rams

We have to stay positive as do the players and Ros and Roo.

I don’t get it......he called Lionel Pickering on the phone?

Doesn’t sound too unreasonable.

Do we need a quarterback slowing us down though that’s the point.

I’m not sure we were slow yesterday. What I saw was the usual toothlessness  in the final third. I don’t think Rooney was the problem, though I do accept prior to yesterday he had been inconsistent at best- especially playing in a more advanced role.

I still think I’d be giving any of Stretton, Triallist, Whittaker and Duncan a go up top from the start as we’d be no worse off.

But what do I know.

Well you have a point because Waghorn,  Lawrence and Holmes we’re totally ineffective so they couldn’t do any worse.

Those players I have named need to step up or be dropped
