Bubbles
Rooney's first comment in the press conference is "I think the change was needed". To me this comes across a bit shady? Cocu gave him his first managerial gig, and ultimately Rooney is responsible aswell as Cocu, but it seems to me that he isn't taking responsibility for that... David
Need to see the interview first, what question he was asked, but it doesn’t look great in a summarised tweet. On the flip side, it’s nothing we haven’t all been saying, I mean do we want honesty or not ??♂️

The DET says it like this: "Rooney saying it has been a ‘strange week’, says a big thank you to Phillip Cocu and his staff but felt change was needed because of the team’s form.." Srg
Remember that respectful, dignified guy Philip Cocu? Yeah, well we’ve got Wayne ducking Rooney now.
Uptherams
One change that is certainly needed is Rooney to not play deep and also be subbed off once his legs go, which tends to be around 60-65mins. I hope we bring back Hughes as Rooney's replacement and also injury prone Holmes.

Not wrong though is he. I'd rather they just be honest

Where does that negative implication come from? Both Rooney and Rosenior have implied they'd like the managers job.
Ambitious
It doesn't sit well with me. I found the articles surrounding Rooney eventually replacing Cocu distasteful and the one with John Gregory (who shares the same agent as Rooney) struck me as a power play at the time. He's probably right. Rooney will have a very good idea of how top class managers conduct themselves and perhaps he's not been impressed. it's fair enough. I just would've rather him keep his trap shut, because this fuels the fire that some players downed tools somewhat.

mwram1973
So what's he said that is so wrong?. He wasn't responsible for cocus sacking, he was learning from him, I very much doubt he had any input into tactics and who should play. 99% of folk on here said he needed to go, nice guy but not good enough and a change is needed. Rooney's just saying what everyone else is saying. Nothing more.

Did Rooney write them? Rosenior wants the job too, maybe he wrote them to nobble Rooney!!!
Bubbles
Collective responsibility. Not once has Rooney put his hands up and admitted a mistake, or he's done wrong. Just seems snakey to me.

CornwallRam
You know when you play football manager and do a press conference where everything you say goes down badly - apparently it happens in the real world too!
The Scarlet Pimpernel
Seems the bloke can do or say pretty much nothing to please some Derby fans. All the discontent will become nothing for whichever manager comes in if they start winning. Win games and the critics shut up. Lose games and everyone's an expert.
