What would McClaren do with this team?

The time for Mac was a while ago.

If you wanted a short term appointment to keep us up then he would have been an option. That said I’m not sure he wants back into management.

So here we are with the celebrity incumbent. He needs to see it through and if he takes us down then so be it. It’s sink or swim time.

You would hope Rooney wouldn’t be daft enough to leave such a vastly experienced and talented coaching resource (Mac) untapped.

However many performances and tactical decisions in recent months haven’t looked like Mac has any involvement/influence!

the spine and backbone seemed fine when we were top of the league form table few weeks ago.

Bottom of league over last ten games or as good as. Not quite sure where the four game do or die push is coming from. We needed that at Blackburn. Rotherham will end up with more points than what we have now so we need more points. Their manager says he needs three wins which would give them 48 points. We would therefore need 6 points from four games to beat that. If we do not beat PNE if is looking unlikely. In paper in order of difficulty it is Swansea, Brum, PNE then Wendies. I suspect that we will get no more than 4 points. Rovrum would maybe beat us on GD with 8 points from 6 games. We should be fine with two more wins regardless. So PNE and nail biter against Wendies who will then be relegated already. In a perfect world, Rovrum also down by last game.

Please Mel, it's not too late. Just give Mac the last game of the season. He's been watching every game so he'll already know exactly what to do. Players like Jozwiak would flourish in his system. Mac's shown he can get an instant impact before, he only needed half-time once vs Ipswich. Just any sort of change could give the team a boost. You can't just let us get relegated whilst doing nothing.

Probably but we wouldn't blame him,esp if he got us a few points Roy!

Mate that 'boat' sailed a long time ago. TBH I can't understand why he came back, I presume to get some experience as Technical Director on his cv.

Sounds like Mel wanted him to give Wayne a chuck and as you say, Mac probably wanted the dof role as a bonus.

Mel has sacked Mac twice. Mel doesn't deserve a third go. Still think Mac has moved on to a different job description anyway.

If we had a decent defence we win today its not all Rooney's fault that the players are poo at defending is it? Mclaren would have us playing better football but we'd still concede poo goals and  not have a clinical striker so we'd be dog crap either way. It's not the players not putting effort in either we are just bank simple as that.
